What did you think? Too much gore and too little plot?

I have to admit that I didn't see the ending coming. I mean the ending where (view spoiler)[everyone jumped back into their time machines cryogenic chambers and slept for 70,000 more years. (hide spoiler)]

Was I the only person disappointed that this is only a trilogy and that we don't get to find out (view spoiler)[what Matt Dillon ... er ... Ethan Burke sees 70,000 years in the future. (hide spoiler)]

One thing that I'd really like to know is what magical energy source and material (view spoiler)[is able to last for 70,000 years (hide spoiler)].
