It has been rumoured that Benedict Cumberbatch had been offered a job as the Doctor, but Ben has said that this is not true in an interview. *sob* Still, it's a nice thought.

I think that he’s too well recognized as Sherlock and should stick to that, you wouldn't be thinking “oh look, its doctor who”, you’d be thinking “look, isn't that Sherlock, what’s he doing in the TADRIS”. two good things don't always make a great thing, sometimes they ruin each other and i think that would be the case here

i did hear that there where plans to make him the new regeneration of the master but i think that is was more like wishful thinking than fact, he is playing the villain in the new Star Trek so maybe he would be good as the bad guy for a change.

Honestly, I don't think he would be a very good doctor. He might be a better master, but I don't think either of the characters really fit him. Also, Sherlock is already a similar character to the doctor, so it would be nearly the same thing except with more aliens and time travel.

I think he would make a good 'Omega' or 'Rassilon' if they decide to bring them back. i'm not sure what more they can do with the master character.

It would be good to bring the Master back though, since he was in classic Who too.

I don't know how much I would like Benedict as the doctor. IK all for wholock but to be honest I like Benedict in Sherlock and who ever is the doctor as in doctor who. It would be great as a movie though, Sherlock and the doctor meeting each other, like one of those old Disney channel mash ups that used to be the biggest thing when I was a kid ;), but even that seems extreme.
