Nenia Campbell Let it all out, ladies! :D

Karlyflower *The Vampire Ninja, Luminescent Monster & Wendigo Nerd Goddess of Canada (according to The Hulk)* Ugh, I am the least into it (except maybe Nenia)... and I am exhausted with the bullshit.

My biggest complaint is the fact that if this is supposed to be a captive story that the author seems to be terrified of the subject matter, so she glosses over it..... Hell, I am perfectly okay with being horrified by the subject BUT then you shouldn't write a book about it.

message 3: by Nenia (new)

Nenia Campbell I'm extremely bothered by the fact that Claire is reassured by Catherine not giving two fucks about her rape. If I was just raped, and nobody seemed to care, I'd be screaming and crying WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU, YOU BITCH? DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT JUST HAPPENED TO ME?

message 4: by [deleted user] (last edited May 19, 2015 04:32PM) (new)

I don't understand how this is so freakishly long. According to kindle it's like over 500 pages. That can't be right, but also can because it feels that long. I'm even skimming and it's taking forever. blah blah blah (view spoiler) blah blah blah obedient blah blah he's mad blah NOTHING INTERESTING IS HAPPENING.

Karlyflower *The Vampire Ninja, Luminescent Monster & Wendigo Nerd Goddess of Canada (according to The Hulk)* Oh... well yes, Claire is a complete fucking MORON... we've all established this.

She also doesn't seem to wish to leave (in as much as she doesn't search for weapons or escape avenues so good)

I'm at 72% and I'm going to go make dinner now. This book makes me what to blow my brains out.

Don't do that, please, I would miss you ♥

I am going to the bar for beer & wings after work... because I am just a wee bit irate at this book.

message 8: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh man. that should be a book date. I would love to have a bookclub meeting at a bar with beer and wings.

Karlyflower *The Vampire Ninja, Luminescent Monster & Wendigo Nerd Goddess of Canada (according to The Hulk)* Kat Stark wrote: "Oh man. that should be a book date. I would love to have a bookclub meeting at a bar with beer and wings."

Me too!! It would be amazing!! We could scare all the other bar goers with our screaming about this book LOL

message 10: by Nenia (new)

Nenia Campbell I almost bought some tiramisu on the way home, but I didn't.

I SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT THE TIRAMISU.

Karlyflower *The Vampire Ninja, Luminescent Monster & Wendigo Nerd Goddess of Canada (according to The Hulk)* I don't know how much of this will get read tonight.... to be honest, I am about as invested in this as I am which carpet my mom choses for her bedroom.

Heather ~*dread mushrooms*~ OH MY GOD I ACCIDENTALLY CLICKED ON THAT SPOILER. WHAT EVEN.

message 13: by Nenia (new)

Nenia Campbell That spoiler wasn't a spoiler for me because I looked at the summaries for the other two books out of curiosity.

GOD THERE IS SO MUCH PRODUCT PLACEMENT IN THIS BOOK HOLY FUCK

Heather ~*dread mushrooms*~ All for products I don't give two shits about, and wouldn't even if I had money to burn.

As for that spoiler, if my head hasn't exploded from rage by that point, it will shortly after, I'm sure.

message 15: by Nenia (new)

Nenia Campbell I actually do like Kate Spade but I can't afford it retail-price!

Karlyflower *The Vampire Ninja, Luminescent Monster & Wendigo Nerd Goddess of Canada (according to The Hulk)* I hate name brand placement, a lot! And it's abundant here... Also I looked at the spoiler to - but had already guessed it - and it's so rage inciting!!

message 17: by [deleted user] (new)

It's bad yo.

That's all I have to say.

What even are the other books about?

I don't know if I wanna know.

Heather ~*dread mushrooms*~ At 24%, she hates his guts (after thinking he was not so bad for a while). I can't imagine how the author is going to make THAT believable by Kat's 72%.

message 19: by [deleted user] (last edited May 19, 2015 06:09PM) (new)

I still don't know what happened in "the room" or what's on the "videotapes" that she can't seem to rewatch because it's too "painful"

I STILL DON'T KNOW WHAT HE DID. I can only assume that it was horrible...according to her dialogue which is basically "no, I can't watch it anymore"

Actually, I don't even hate the guy. There's no reason to. He's just a regular asshole, who beat her up once <--the only proof I've seen thus far. and then he apologized. And then she apologized....

...THE EVER-LOVING FUCK??

Heather ~*dread mushrooms*~ Well, she does have bruises and soreness, and I think one time she took off her robe and he fawned all over her back like he was sorry for how he made it look? Whatever, it's disturbing the book glosses over the abusive sex and describes the sex where she orgasms.

message 21: by Nenia (new)

Nenia Campbell I haven't gotten to the sex yet. Anthony is still mentally masturbating to his brilliant scheme, a.k.a. Operation Rapenap.

message 22: by [deleted user] (new)

Heather *Thermonuclear Bomb of Death* wrote: "Well, she does have bruises and soreness, and I think one time she took off her robe and he fawned all over her back like he was sorry for how he made it look? Whatever, it's disturbing the book gl..."

YES. THIS.

message 23: by Nenia (new)

Nenia Campbell Is that what happens after the whipping? Because i just got to that part.

I am so disgusted. I mean, i have no problem with antiheroes and psychopath MCs but for the love of God, don't romanticize them or try to make them look misunderstood or tragic or damaged.

Anthony Rawlings is fucking sick and there is nothing romantic about this.

message 24: by [deleted user] (new)

I totally glossed over that or something because I thought he wasn't sadistic enough...

Or maybe it's not graphic enough for me because I read too much fucked up shit.

message 25: by [deleted user] (new)

Okay back to reading. I'm still waiting for this ending that amazes everyone. I keep wondering if I'll be amazed at this point. EVERYONE said it was BAM.

message 26: by Nenia (new)

Nenia Campbell I dunno. I'm not surprised very easily.

Maybe once you get to the end, the book lights itself on fire and puts itself out of your misery.

Karlyflower *The Vampire Ninja, Luminescent Monster & Wendigo Nerd Goddess of Canada (according to The Hulk)* .... If he could reach his own back, Anthony would give himself a hardy pat.

1) wtf is that sentence struction.....
2) is he a t-rex?! Why can't he reach his own back??

message 28: by [deleted user] (new)

BAHHAHAHAHAHAH <3

message 29: by [deleted user] (new)

72% (view spoiler)

KILL ME NOW.

I'm only at 10% and I would like it to self combust already o_O

message 31: by [deleted user] (new)

75%

TOO MANY EVENS TO CAN'T. THIS ENDING BETTER BE THROUGH THE FUCKING ROOF

message 32: by [deleted user] (new)

WHERE IS IT YOU GUYS. I KEEP RAGING. I'M JUST RAGING HARDER AND HARDER. I'M GONNA TURN INTO A STORM

message 33: by Nenia (new)

Nenia Campbell @Karly: You're in the same place as me. :D

@Kat: I keep accidentally clicking over to Steelheart, which I've got open in ADE. I think my brain is trying to tell me something... ;D

message 34: by [deleted user] (new)

83% more abuse...more compliance...it's just back and forth with these two and she's still a dumb twat for not fighting back at all. The violence is still glossed over. There's more TALK of him being cruel and sadistic rather than SHOWING that he is, which makes my sympathy for her nil.

ps. this is a bit of a spark though (view spoiler)

message 35: by [deleted user] (new)

Steelheart is way more interesting lol

message 36: by Nenia (new)

Nenia Campbell Oh my God the douche had like a rapist father or something didn't he? Like that dude in Pepper Winters' book. Q, I think? Some men are just born bad. Why don't people understand this? Sometimes evil doesn't need an excuse. Sometimes evil just IS.

message 37: by Nenia (new)

Nenia Campbell Nenia wrote, "Sometimes evil doesn't need an excuse. Sometimes evil just IS."

In fact, I'm putting that in my book. It fits Adrian Callaghan perfectly.

Karlyflower *The Vampire Ninja, Luminescent Monster & Wendigo Nerd Goddess of Canada (according to The Hulk)* FUUUUCK, SO I FIGURED IT OUT THIS IS EROTICA FANFIC OF BEAUTY & THE BEAST, ISNT IT?! *so much head desk*

message 39: by Nenia (new)

Nenia Campbell OHHHHHH, like how IF I WERE YOU was supposed to be erotica fanfiction of Daphne DuMaurier's REBECCA?

But wait...the 'beast' isn't ugly, though.

Karlyflower *The Vampire Ninja, Luminescent Monster & Wendigo Nerd Goddess of Canada (according to The Hulk)* He's still a "monster" (evidence not shown).... his responses are so practicedly wrong.... this chick has no idea how to dialogue a socio/psychopath o.O

message 41: by [deleted user] (new)

Karly *The Vampire Ninja & Luminescent Monster* wrote: "FUUUUCK, SO I FIGURED IT OUT THIS IS EROTICA FANFIC OF BEAUTY & THE BEAST, ISNT IT?! *so much head desk*"

WHAT NO?!

message 42: by [deleted user] (new)

90% if that's the twist, I'm gonna be one pissed bitch.

message 43: by Nenia (new)

Nenia Campbell And she's really bad at listening to that screaming internal alarm that makes most rational women reach for the mace (or the stiletto, or the knife, or the 9-1-1 dialed phone).

message 44: by [deleted user] (new)

Nenia ♥ The Armchair Librarian ♥ wrote: "Oh my God the douche had like a rapist father or something didn't he? Like that dude in Pepper Winters' book. Q, I think? Some men are just born bad. Why don't people understand this? Sometimes evi..."

SPOILER! JESUS!! I still need to read Q!! I actually love Pepper Winters.

message 45: by Nenia (new)

Nenia Campbell I'm totally keeping track of what % gets you guys pissed to see if I can guess which particular event triggered it. Heather got Real Mad @17% and I'm almost there. :P

message 46: by [deleted user] (new)

BAHHA, so did I.

message 48: by Nenia (new)

Nenia Campbell Kat Stark wrote: "Nenia ♥ The Armchair Librarian ♥ wrote: "Oh my God the douche had like a rapist father or something didn't he? Like that dude in Pepper Winters' book. Q, I think? Some men are just born bad. Why ..."

Sorrrrry. I thought you read it already for some reason. D:

Don't worry. It's not a huge spoiler. I won't say anything else, though.

I'm not a fan of Pepper. Her writing drives me crazy. But she is much better than this author. At least her heroines fought back (or tried to. At first. Briefly).

message 49: by Nenia (new)

Nenia Campbell P.S. Kat you might want to stay away from my review of Monsters, then. I'm pretty sure it has tons of spoilers.
