Hi Kristin, could we have a section or a thread for exchanging review tips. How we structure our reviews, change our writing style so we don't become repetitive, etc. I know I have loads to learn so maybe we can all benefit from each others tips :) What do you think?

I think that is an awesome idea. I will put together something tomorrow. I don't have time this evening but I am home all day tomorrow so I will work on some tips and do some research as well :) Thanks for the idea.

I have another suggestion. Can we have a thread where we post a link for reviews that we do for any of the authors on here. If we post review feedback in the 'authors requesting reviews' thread they will be scattered.

In a dedicated thread with a link to your own blog or just your goodreads review, it will highlight the author's work further. It will also give other members a chance to read the review & might encourage some to read and review also.

Meant to add I know we already have a members review section so a thread in there would do but we would only post for authors of this group who had requested reviews.

I love this idea. I'm away from my computer at the moment, did you want to set it up? If not I can do it tomorrow sometime maybe :)

I'll leave you to set up the thread then. We can share links to the reviews so that the thread is easier to sift through for the authors. Add the book and write in bold for the authors title and author name so it sticks out.

I have a suggestion, but I have to admit it is a selfish suggestion. But I figured if I'm not sure how to go about doing this there has to be at least one other person that whats to know to.

Maybe post something up with tips on how to start a blog, and what it takes to actually run one.

I have been thinking about doing this for some time now, but haven't taken the steps to go past the thinking stage because I really don't know what I would be getting myself into or where to even start. And since some of you have blogs I thought maybe you could help those of us out there that haven't quite taken that step yet.

Hi Angie,

I personally think the very first step is coming up with a creative name for your blog, which may also end up as your URL. It helps if the name is something clever or has something to do with your content so people would know what to expect when they visit your blog.

Once you've done that (some people feel the hardest part is coming up with the name), now you choose from the many free blogging services out there. There's Blogger (owned by Google, I believe), WordPress, etc. I use Tumblr, since I've been using it for years (for my personal blog which I don't update as often anymore, and now my new book blog) and it's very easy.

Next you can worry about your design or just go right to the content and think of the design next, it's up to you! I think these blog services have themes you can use; I know I'm using a free theme on mine that I may eventually customize with CSS, though I know I will need outside help for that.

You can also introduce yourself in one of your posts or have an "About me" page (I have both), but don't feel as if you need to do that.
