I just finished my extended essay on this and Northanger Abbey I am so down for it. >.< Might as well put all that knowledge to good use
Yay! I had to skip May because Carrie's book is not yet in the states (at least not the bookstores where I live). I also decided I would rather get her book on loan instead of buy it. I am considerably older than she is. Austen has always been a favorite resident on my bookshelves.
I'm gonna try and participat as best I can. I'm already a few chapters into the book but school keeps getting in the way so I have no idea if I'll finish it on time.
I've already read Pride and Prejudice but it was a few years ago and in translation. It would be a nice experience to re-read it in English. And I did put 'something by Jane Austen' on my summer TBR list, so... it still counts if it's a re-read. Right? :)
Started Pride and Prejudice today!!! I'm only up to chapter 8 but I'm already charmed by it. The language confuses me a little and sometimes I have to read over things a few times to understand them but I really like it so far. It's interesting and I can already see the Sparks of romance in it!! What are you guys up to?? And what are your thoughts??
This a re-read fore so i decided to listen to the audio book and I'm around chapter 7, I adore this book and there is definitely some love in the air even if it is a little 1 sided ;)
WOOHOO! I actually started reading this last month and this is the perfect motivation. I'm tempted to go back and watch The Lizzie Bennet Diaries now though. (I probably should have read the book before watching that but it's too good haha)
Erin, me too!! I started the Lizzie Bennet diaries but stopped so I could read the book but I can't wait to watch them again when I'm finished!! They are just so good!!!
! Lizzie Bennet came out a couple of months after I first read P&P so it was like a cool present I got when I finished. Haha must watch again it's been forever.
I know I can't wait, the best thing is its a continuation of the story not like the other where we just got extra details :D
I'm just a few chapters in. Re-reading it in English is a completely new experience. I don't think that I've ever read some of the older classics not in translation, so it's sometimes so weird. Did they really use to talk like that? It's amazing and I'm really enjoying it, especially every time I recognise some moments, that I remember reading before.
Hey Halyna!! I know isn't the language amazing!!! English is my first language and I still find so much pleasure in reading classics because of how they talk. The writing is just so much more poetic and the authors find the most interesting ways of saying things.

How is everyone doing? I'm about 30% of the way through and WOW Mr. Collins is infinitely annoying haha. Where are you guys in you reading?
Comparing P&P to the Lizzie Bennet Diaries, I actually prefer the Mr Collins in the book to the Mr Collins in the videos. But he is still slightly annoying. According to goodreads, im about 50% of the way through the book.
I am a 1/4 way in. I have been switching between P&P and Wuthering Heights, which makes for a rather interesting Darcy. I think Darcy is an introvert and an intellectual which is why he his manner is so brisk with others. He isn't into the silliness of small talk or the mindless party going. I think he sees something akin to himself in Lizzie by way of her independent spirit.
Just finishing up Volume 3 where Elizabeth is at Pemberley and a bit confused over why Darcy is showing her so much kindness. I've been popping on the 2005 version of Pride and Prejudice with Keira Knightley during my reading just to get a visual idea of what Pemberley might look like. I had forgotten how visually stunning that movie is. It's a lot better, imo, than the 1995 version with Colin Firth. The settings might have been more accurate in the mini-series, but the acting seemed lacking. Incidentally, there is a good chance Austen wrote Chatsworth house to be Pemberley. A lot of her references to the house match the same descriptions of Chatsworth. Quite stunning.
Love this book. Whenever someone asks me what my favorite book is, I say this one. Because it sounds a whole lot more intelligent than 50 Shades of Gray or some sort of Young Adult series. Ha ha. But really, who can pick one favorite book anyways...

Just finished it this morning. I love the relationship Elizabeth has with Darcy in how it is not based on formality, but friendship and mutual love for each other. I couldn't help but chuckle at Lady Catherine getting her dominance thrown back at her. She rather deserved it after the way she tore into Elizabeth about her relationship with Darcy. Poor Lydia, though. Sadly, she was allowed to walk into her mess without the intervention of her father. Would that he would have been wiser in his dealings with her beforehand.
Just finished it. :DI will always love this book. Elizabeth and Darcy are one of my favourite fictional couples ♥

I love this book so much :) it's always a pick-me-up when I feel down. I'm watching a stage production of it tonight, I'm so excited!

I just came back from the production, and I have to say it was great! It was quite light-hearted so if you are into serious drama it may not be your thing, but it was performed by the Pantaloons Theatre Company if anyone is interested.
