In honor of all this pink and red hearts business everywhere, I thought I would honor those stories where the main characters dance around each, but always stay out of reach...getting together and then breaking up counts!

-Buffy and Angel-They whined a lot together, but I was rooting for them.
-Buffy and Spike-They fought a lot together, but then he went all self-sacrifing.
-Carter and O'Neill from Stargate SG-1
-Marshall Mann and Mary Shannon from In Plain Sight-My favorite unrequited storyline!
-Tony and Ziva from NCIS-When are they are they going to get together?

Help me remember more examples of "love at a distance"

Unrequited love. In films there is one that in particular stands-out, and that would be "the holiday".

The Holiday, now I watched that. I have to think. And I just remembered there was a storyline in the movie version of The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel with a decades long unrequited love story that ripped my heart out.

Very moving :)
