Jonathan LaPoma (jonlapoma) | 39 comments Hello,

I manually added my book DEVELOPING MINDS: AN AMERICAN GHOST STORY to Goodreads yesterday, not realizing I was supposed to ask a Librarian to do this for me. Is this okay? I also already added myself as the author (I did not, however, add the book's cover image, which I've linked to below. Can you please add this as well?)

Here is the information for the book:
* Title: Developing Minds: An American Ghost Story
* Author(s) name(s): Jonathan LaPoma
* ISBN (or ASIN): 978-0-9674922-9-2
* Publisher: Laughing Fire Press
* Publication date: September 14, 2015
* Format: Print and e-book
* Description: DEVELOPING MINDS: AN AMERICAN GHOST STORY follows a group of recent college graduates who struggle with feelings of alienation and their addictions as they try to survive a year of teaching at two dysfunctional Miami public schools.

A poetic and insightful coming-of-age novel, DEVELOPING MINDS is centered on 24-year-old Luke Entelechy, an aspiring writer who sees his creative output suffer when he begins teaching at one of Miami’s most challenging middle schools. As the year progresses, however, Luke begins to relate to the neglect and abuse his students suffer, and is faced with a “haunting” decision: continue to let his dark past destroy him, or rise above the struggle to realize his potential as an artist and a "real" human being.

Equal parts disturbing and humorous, DEVELOPING MINDS offers a brutally honest look at the American public school system and the extreme measures many teachers take to cope with working in it.

Please let me know if you need any more information to add my book to Goodreads!

Thank You,

Jonathan LaPoma

Schwubsi 4 Life (nimby) | 46 comments Hi,
added the cover. I think it's okay that you did add your own book as this a feature that can be used by everybody... Did you win any literary awards yet? If not I think the information is enough for now.

EDIT:
But if you want you or me can also add the ebook edition..

Jonathan LaPoma (jonlapoma) | 39 comments Thank you, Dennis! I appreciate the quick response.

I haven't won any awards yet, but I have entered the book in several competitions. Can I add any wins to my profile if I do indeed win?

Also, do I need to create a profile for the ebook edition as well as the print? And, if so, will the reviews for the print addition appear on the ebook edition and vise versa?

-Jon

The ebook is in fact another edition of this book so you would have to add another edition to this book. So yes the ebook needs a site of its own.
You can of course add the award to your author profile perhaps in the description and also to your book in the award section.
But keep in mind that at least the account you are using right now is not an author's profile. If you want to get control of your own author profile and become a goodreads author read more about that right here.
If you don't want that you can just edit the already created author profile..

EDIT: corrected the author program link...
EDIT 2: yes the reviews apply to all editions of a book, but you can also use the filter and only display reviews for just one single edition. But normally that filter is set to all editions if you open up the site...

Jonathan LaPoma (jonlapoma) | 39 comments Thanks again for the quick response, Dennis! Would you mind helping me create the ebook page? I want to make sure it's done right, and linked to the print edition correctly.

I already clicked on the "Is this you?" link on the author's profile for my book and submitted the information needed to set me up as the author. I believe I'm just waiting back for this to be confirmed by Goodreads.

Is the ebook available on amazon and thus has a ASIN number or does it have an ISBN? I just added the ebook as an edition with the same information only changed the format to ebook. I guess it will be released at the same day? Just added the same date from the paper version. View the result here.
Should anything be changed?

Jonathan LaPoma (jonlapoma) | 39 comments Thanks Dennis!

The ebook is not available on Amazon yet--nor is the print edition. I plan to add them to Amazon soon though. My publisher does not yet have an ISBN for the ebook edition. Can we add this and the ASIN later?

Yes, both books will be released on the same day. And, yes, the ebook page looks good!

You are welcome!
Yeah of course you can add it later on, don't know if you can change it as an author, just post another thread to this group if you want something added and you can't/ aren't allowed to do it yourself.
But now I do have to get some sleep as it is past midnight in my country :P.
