Time Travel discussion

Happy Memorial Day to all the American members out there. And wish an equivalent holiday to those in foreign lands.

I find myself always wanting to do a post at Memorial Day at the time travel group because, I feel as though this holiday most encapsulates an appreciation of history and specifically a time to remember those who have sacrificed so much for this country. I love taking adventures among such rich military history involving the revolutionary war, the Civil war, or contemplate what it would like to occupy a landing craft at Normandy. Yes I am a mere tourist and using these histories as simply a backdrop for a story can be seen as lessening their struggles, but to me it keeps it alive and makes it more real having to view it through a characters perspective "living" through it makes me appreciate it more and helps me contemplate how I would of reacted if the history was mine to live.

Thanks to all who have given their life to give me an opportunity to live in this country of mine.

Lincoln--as a infantry man in the MARINES during the Vietnam conflict we didn't receive many "hero's welcomes"---It is good to hear someone say thanks---You are VERY welcome....

Yes wars and politics can be hairy subjects, but setting aside people's feelings about individual conflicts...there still needs to be true gratitude to those that serve in those conflicts. Thank you for your service Jaime!
