||★|History|★||
►Makenna's parents abandoned her when she was 15, leaving her to fend for herself on the streets of Los Angeles. They would always tell her that she was too much of a handful and that they just couldn't take care of her anymore when she treated them like she did; but in reality, Makenna was any teenagers parent's dream. She didn't disrespect her parents or talk back to them, she would do whatever they asked her to do without a single question asked. So when they left her on the street she was never more confused in her life. So for four years she roamed the streets, going from homeless shelter to homeless shelter in order to stay warm and out of the weather, then she stumbled upon a street race. This is where she met Dominic Toretto, a famous street racer even then. She used to go to every race just to watch, and one night Dominic pulled her aside and asked what a young girl like her was doing here on the streets. She told him about her parents and how they had left her, and Dominic told her that she wouldn't have to worry anymore, that he would take care of her. So, she pretty much became Dom's little sister, he took care of her, taught her how to race and gave her an eternal roof over her head.

мαr ♚ | 264 comments "Kenna, time to go."
Those words are all it took to get Makenna Easton away from the old junker of a car she was working on in the garage of the Toretto home and into her blue Ford pickup to head to where the gang stored their racing cars. And, you guessed it, there was a race tonight. God, she did love to race, but especially with her newly tuned up Mustang that's motor purred whenever she revved the accelerator. There was absolutely nothing like it, racing was an addiction to Kenna, as it was to the other members of the family-as Dom insisted on calling them. So, when Makenna finally rolled to a stop near an endless row of racing cars she felt immediately at home, felt the adrenaline beginning to pulse through her veins, and she knew tonight's races were going to be good ones. Climbing out of her car, Kenna shut the door behind her and walked up to the front to lean against the hood to watch the cars that were racing at the time, it would be her turn soon enough.

~-~

Dominic Toretto had been the one to tell Makenna that it was time to go, he didn't have to but still, he didn't want her to forget about the races taking place tonight. Much like Makenna, Dom thought as racing as an addiction that just grew stronger with time until you would pretty much sell your house and all of your belongings to stay in the game. Dom was addicted to the game, but he knew better than to throw away everything for a race that could be won or lost. After all, he was the rock that held his family together, and if he threw everything away his family would have nothing. With this in mind, Dom stopped next to where Makenna had parked, cutting the engine of his racing vehicle and climbing out. Unlike Kenna however, he did not go to lean against the hood of his car, but he was almost instantly surround by a group of his fellow racers that referred to him as a friend. Soon enough they were laughing and making friendly bets on the races that were occurring at the moment, all the while keeping a sharp ear and eye out for any police officers.

мαr ♚ | 264 comments Makenna watched as more people arrived, many of them later rather than sooner. She was surprised at how long it took before she was approached by someone from the crowd, but when she was approached by someone-a blonde man who had pulled up slightly later than everyone else-she could tell almost immediately that he was not part of the crowd. A giggle escaped her throat at his comment about her Mustang and she turned to him, raising an eyebrow. "I take it, this is your first race," she said, eyeing him for a moment before resting back against her car, still facing him. Shaking her head, the corner of her mouth lifted in a smile as she nodded to the car he had arrived in, "Nice car, by the way."

~-~

Dom looked up when two more people arrived, both of them later than pretty much everybody else. One of the late arrivals, a blonde man, left his car after a moment and went to talk to Makenna. The other, a dark haired woman dressed in a form-fitting top and shorts and heeled boots, just walked through the crowd of racers like it was nothing. The crowd parted to let her through like Moses parting the Red Sea. He watched her for a moment, his eyes trailing over her before he looked away and glanced back as she began to admire one of the cars, when she arched her back her dark hair fell over her shoulder in a wave of curly locks. Shaking his head, Dom cleared his throat and told the group that had gathered around him that he was going to go check out some other cars. And so he began his journey through the crowd to where the dark-haired woman was still admiring the car. "Mercedes. Nice car, don't you think?" He asked her once he reached the hood, running a hand over the front fender, careful not to mess up the wax job.

мαr ♚ | 264 comments Kenna smirked and looked over at the man who stood next to where she leaned against her precious Mustang. "It's pretty obvious," she nodded and shook her head slightly, a lock of dark blonde hair falling out of place from behind her ear. He asked her if she would be racing, and she glanced at him sideways, her head tilted to the right slightly. "Oh no, I just pulled up in a Mustang and parked right next to the other racing vehicles because I felt like it," she said sarcastically, giggling lightly at the expression on her face. "Yes, I'll be racing tonight." She looked over at him, "and I'm guessing you will be, too? Or did you just come to watch your friend?"

~-~

Dom watched as the dark-haired woman's eyes took him in, tracing across his body after he had approached her. The hints of a smile tugged at the corners of his mouth when she said that she Mercedes' weren't her type, she has good taste, he commented to himself mentally. When she made the comment about herself being picky he actually did smile, and shook his head looking down at her. "I figured," he blinked before clearing his throat and shoving his hands into the pockets of his jeans. "Just a wild guess, but you'll be racing tonight, won't you?" He asked, feeling the slightest bit awkward while talk to this woman, when usually the words rolled right off his tongue, when he talked to her he had to think about what he was going to say. It made him feel almost vulnerable, a feeling he wasn't entirely used to.

мαr ♚ | 264 comments Kenna looked over when he commented about not knowing anything about anyone here. "Well, why you introduce yourself, silly," she shook her head and chuckled lightly. She noticed the piece of her hair that had fallen from behind her ear and tucked it back to where it was, looking back over at the man she stood-or more like leaned-next to. "Well, I wish you luck in your race tonight. A first time racer like you is going to need it," she winked at him, realizing that he had locked eyes with her. Makenna was always getting compliments about her eyes and how unique they were; they weren't just any normal color like brown or blue or green, she had been by many racers that her eyes were the color of tarnished gold, much like her soul. His eyes were blue, but not a normal blue, more like a sky blue, not too dark but not too light either. He jerked lightly and looked away, realizing he had been staring. "What's your name, stranger?" She asked, her words vibrating from her throat almost like a purr.

~-~

For a moment, Dom's eyes looked at the hand that was offered to him by this dark-haired woman who had introduced herself as Rosa and who had a bit of a Spanish accent to her voice. Almost hesitantly he took her hand, her fingers intertwining with his. "You think you'll beat me, huh? Sorry to say this honey, but I've probably been in ten times more races than you have." His heart was thundering under his ribcage when he heard her offer for them to meet up after the race. Though he was tempted, Dom honestly was not a person who went for one night stands as many of the men at the races did. "I'm going to have to pass, one-night-stands aren't really a thing for me. You just bring a girl home at night and she's gone before you wake up, to me that's not right. Everybody should be with someone who they can wake up next to every morning without having to be afraid of them leaving." He shrugged, hoping that he hadn't upset her, because if he had he would probably end up taking her up on her offer despite his instincts telling him not to. Telling him that it would probably end badly for both of them.

мαr ♚ | 264 comments Brian. The name suited him. Makenna chuckled lightly, shaking her head. "My name's Makenna." She smiled, crossing her arms over her chest and tilting her head when she heard the first races being announced. Kenna nodded and looked back over at Brian who had looked over at her as well. A smile spread across her face, and she looked away after a moment, embarrassed. "You think that you'll be racing me tonight?" She asked, looking hesitantly back up at Brian, inching a bit closer to him. The way she moved to pull this off looked as if she were just shifting her weight. The people who were standing around moved to the side as two cars pulled up to the beginning line, their engines purring under the hoods.

~-~

Dom mentally kicked himself, of course she had meant going out, dimwit. Get your mind out of the gutter! Shaking his head he watched her walk away. He remembered that her hand had seemed strangely strong while it had held his, not that he had minded, but he was more used to a soft grasp, not one as strong as Rosa's had been. Clearing his throat, Dominic stepped back as people began moving off of the road so that two cars could pull up the beginning race line. Their engines were revving and the drivers were visibly itching to start the race. Dom, being an experienced racer, knew better than to display any emotion or clue that he was nervous about the race or excited or anything, emotions got in the way of racing. They could cloud your judgement, and probably cost you the race.

мαr ♚ | 264 comments Makenna watched him walk away. She sighed and shook her head. "Maybe," she whispered after he was long gone. The first race was just about to begin, the two cars stopped at the start line, their engines revving violently. It didn't take long for a woman dressed in a very short skirt and low cut tank top to wave the green flag she held in her hand above her head, signaling the beginning of the race. The car's tires spun for a moment before they both moved gradually forward, keeping pace with each other for a while until one of the cars-a green Chevy Camaro-pulled forward at the last minute, crossing the finish line before the other car did just by barely a foot.

~-~

Dom pushed his way through the crowd to stand at the front of the line of people waiting to watch the race begin. Across the way he could see Makenna still leaning sins her beloved Mustang, watching the two cars at the starting line much like he was. The blonde man she had been talking to had walked away, leaving Kenna to lean against her car on her own. But, knowing her, Dominic guessed that she didn't mind being alone. After all, she never had before. When the race began, Dom watched the cars moved down the road slowly at first and then gradually building up speed until the green Camaro passed the purple Corvette a foot away from the finish line. He shook his head and chuckled lightly to himself, he would've played off that race completely different than those two racers had. But he had to remember, every racer had their own style.

мαr ♚ | 264 comments After the races Makenna had followed Dom to the garage where they kept their racing cars and traded out her precious Mustang for her pickup and headed to one of Dom's favorite bars. The races had gone surprisingly well for Makenna, she had won all of her races. She had even gotten to race Brian, just as he had predicted. Kenna had won the race, of course, she had already figured she would. He was a rookie, and it was a good thing that she hadn't raced him for pink slips or he would owe her a car. Then again, if she had, she would probably see him again sometime. So, here she was, standing at the bar, a Corona grasped in her hand that she was taking drinks of, accepting the shots of tequila that some men down the bar were sending her. She was surprised when she looked over to see Brian standing next to her.

~-~

It was after the races, Dom was standing in a bar surrounded by a group of his fellow racers while he talked to them, a Corona gripped in his hand. He had won all of his races tonight, and he was in a pretty good mood. The woman-Rosa-had raced him, and she had lost though she had done pretty well with her other races before she challenged him. Dom didn't feel bad for beating her, after all, she had said that she had been in street races before she had come here. Every racer loses now and then. He barely heard the bar door open over the loud music that was playing across the room, and in walked Rosa and the blonde man that Makenna had been talking to back at the races. They seemed to be arguing. Watching, Dom tilted his head slightly when the dark-haired woman turned and looked at him before walking over and the blonde man walked over to where Makenna was standing. A smile tugged at the corners of Dom's mouth at Rosa's questions, "I can't give away my tactics. Every racer has their own style. And yes, you would have to roll with me before you would learn anything from me." He nodded, taking a drink of his Corona.
