I was a part of POETRY a few times. The first time I was a member was when I published my first work of horror poetry. I remember posting a poem on there and this old woman was very critical and I wasn't looking for critique. Every time I posted in a thread she was there and its like she had it out for me. Then I got ganged up on and people were rude and ignorant so I left.Earlier this year I returned to the group for the first time in 3 years thinking it had changed..it didn't. That same old woman came at me! My posts went unnoticed and the moderator is just like you said Wade, so busy promoting herself and her newsletters that I doubt she's aware or cares what's going on. Its a shame because that's the largest poetry group and one of the very few...
Justin, your first paragraph could be mine. Except that I enjoyed tremendously a couple of poets, one of which (the better) quit, twice, the second time permanently.A moderator with a nice smile (in her picture) entered one discussion months ago, and of the two moderators I messaged after posting in Gothic Poets, she has responded. I hold on (did The Beatles insist on being Deutsche Grammophon artists, upon discovering Karlheinz Stockhausen? hint NO) to POETRY! as a non-elitist, general purpose post. Because I don't want to rise each morning and spend 4 hours cleaning and writing my cleaning or vice-versa. Thanks for responding.
I only joined Gothic Poets this month. On the horror aspect, I've acquired two H.P. Lovecraft volumes as my friends love him and his work. And I had shared the wiki page for Wrong Turn movie, on a New Member's Welcome page, announcing initial fond feelings upon joining Poetry. Eating my words with bacon + toast.
I keep hoping and hoping for a new poetry group but honestly I'm yet to see one. I could make my own and I've thought about it from time to time but I don't know if I could keep it up. As much as I come on GR I just don't know if I could manage and maintain a group while doing other things, oh well it is still an idea and thought. There definitely needs to me more activity in this group and there needs to be more Poetry groups cause the biggest one on this site is a total joke.
I joined POETRY! a long time ago and then left after I seen how they were on there too. It would be nice to actually discuss a poem, and it doesn't even need to be a modern one it can be a classic poem, and see what each likes or dislikes about it.
I don't dare re-join that group because I already know it hasn't changed and I want to see another Poetry group but I feel if I could find another small one that I would be happy with that. I am a member of this group and another small Poetry group and I'd gladly take being a member of three small ones who value their members over a group with 10,000 and doesn't give a damn.On a personal note, as a poet I would love nothing more than to talk shop and gladly introduce people to my poetry but it was just never possible in the main Poetry group here on Goodreads. I have two poetry books and am working on a sequel to my first and this group is definitely the right place and has the right type of audience would I think would enjoy it, I would just like to have one more poetry group that's all just one more where I know exactly where to go when I get here on GR to talk about poetry.
I published my first poetry book in May of this year, Poems: An Exploration of Life. I am finishing up my second one now as well, just have a few illustration I want to draw out and see if they are worth putting in or not.
I am happy to talk about whatever comes up :-)

Otherwise, this Group has not provided much interest to me, sorry because it does not reflect upon you.
I valued POETRY! with all its ups and downs, because it was common and non-elite.
Basically, I guess it's for "safe farming" of a Newsletter for the purpose of gaining more Readers?
Trying to take a high road, I got attacked in curse words and personal, personal insults. The stupid moderation by the moderators or their sponsors,
glued to their numbers,
and ridiculous Newsletter,
care not for this, but like anywhere where incompetence and decay are tolerated because they suit the management, the trouble is located where there is a difference.
The one fellow I truly admired (a self-confessed obsessive) kicked himself out, twice; the second time, to stay.
I like to tough and brave it out, but POETRY! is some God-damned motherfuckin, stupid-assed, Jesus-hating, bluefaced fucking malarky.
