Hi,

Was wondering how many people here use their Kindle (or other e-readers), or the Kindle app on their phones, to read books? How much do you normally pay for e-books, and have you had any problems buying e-books?

I'm thinking of making the switch. Can't stand how some parents use the local library as a day-care center.....

Pamela (waterspout) I only get the free ebooks on Amazon, and I don't read most of them right away. Mostly, this is because I prefer actual books, but if I do get a paperwhite someday, I might turn over to reading on a kindle.

Lanell Horton (hortonsgirl4life) | 21 comments I love my kindle! I do love real books, but it's hard for me to get out all the time, so it's nice to have a book store at my fingertips. My only complaint is that most of the books are almost as much as a regular book, which I don't think is fair. There are plenty of free books, & fairly cheap ones. I wish they would make lending easier though. U can only do it from Amazon's website.

Sydney | 72 comments I read on my phone through the kindle app all the time. Yeah the more popular books are higher priced but are usually lower than a paperback. If you like those random, not really popular books, they're usually pretty cheap, like less than $5.

Cheryl Landmark (clandmark) | 52 comments I recently bought a Kindle Paperwhite and, since then, I've downloaded about 50 books. Some were free and others were around the $2.00 price. I've always been an avid physical book kind of reader and was quite reluctant to buy an ereader. But, my book buying was getting very expensive and I was running out of room on my tottering bookshelves. My husband was the one who actually encouraged me to buy an ereader since he knows not buying books is not an option for me! :)

I really love the ease of buying and downloading books on the Kindle and reading is actually quite enjoyable, too. The lighted screen makes it so easy to read just about anywhere, even if the light is not the greatest.

I will never give up on traditional paperback books, but I'm having no problem alternating my reading between them and ebooks.

Kadie D♥ | 43 comments E-books I read on my laptop. But I don't really like reading on laptop because it makes my eyes very tired. I prefer reading paperbooks, because I pay for something I can hold. And the book stacking problem is not that big to me, it makes the room/space lively, with a story...;p
Because not all books are available in bookstores in the netherlands(but it's possible to order them specificly) is does come in handy to read E-books. Though I'm not a real fan of it.

Book Sushi (BookSushi) | 97 comments i made the slow switch from paper to reading on my laptop using Calibre. Then I received a Kobo and I have been loving it ever since. I find the books cheaper and plus my library doesnt always have the books I want. Im always way ahead of them in terms of certain series. I still collect certain books (that i read over and over again) from markets but majority of my personal "library" are ebooks. Dont have to worry about storage space. Plus it fits right in my handbag so i can read anywhere.

Jamie Hembree | 2 comments I use my nook app on my phone and love it! I have a membership to B&N so the books that I download are either free or around $5. I still buy paper books but I always have plenty on reserve on my nook :) hope this helped!!

Janene Murphy (janenemurphy) | 3 comments My daughter and I both use kindles. I have a kindle fire, which is great for apps and web browsing, but I don't read on it a ton because the light burns into my eyeballs after a while and I'm still partial to paper books. Still, I can download books for free from my library, which is very cool. My daughter has a "regular" Kindle and she LOVES it. Very easy to read, though I'm not sure if she can check things out from the library. You should look into that.
