As mentioned during the last hangout, we're once again handing over the reigns this July and letting you pick the book for our two year birthday bash!

But rather than using a poll like last year, we're going with a different method this time around - a suggestion box!

Simply use this thread to add the book(s) of your choice to the list. We'll assign each one a number and, based on the amount of suggestions, roll the appropriate die at the end of our Jurassic Park hangout to determine the winner!

There are absolutely no restrictions to the kind of book(s) you can suggest. A personal favorite, perhaps? How about a classic we've yet to cover? Another paranormal romance? It's all fair game this July.

Let's hear those suggestions!

Good luck!

So... we can pick too, right? This one has been on my reading list for far too long. I choose you Pikachu... err... I mean Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency by Douglas Adams

I'm just glad I'm not the one rolling that dice. I'd probably crit fail it.

Vincent | 12 comments I know what this book club needs - a wrestling autobiography.

I choose Hitman: My Real Life in the Cartoon World of Wrestling by Bret Hart.

I've actually read a wrestling autobiography before - Jesse Ventura's "I Ain't Got Time to Bleed"

It was good.

Inês | 2 comments I think Maplecroft would be a very interesting book for this book club. Lovecraft meets Lizzie Borden.

That looks interesting...

Chrissie Edden (chrissieedden) | 5 comments ! Love Cherie Priest. I listened to the audiobook of Boneshaker narrated by Wil Wheaton and Kate Reading and nearly crashed my car. Recommended.

I dunno. Sounds dangerous.

Chrissie Edden (chrissieedden) | 5 comments Well I was under the impression we were all here for adventure!

I only go on adventures if they are sold to me by a bearded old man with a pointy hat who deals with fireworks.

Lara E Brown (larasaurus) Will everyone hate me if I put The Lost World as my suggestion?

If you're going to suggest a sequel to a dinosaur-themed book we've previously read, then I'd prefer that one.

I second Cherie Priest, I enjoyed her Four And Twenty Blackbirds.

I'm suggesting some classic cheesy fantasy, with a serious side of fromage. Raymond E Feist's The Magician.

message 16: by Red (new)

Red Dog (red_dog) | 65 comments I second Donovan's Dirk Gently suggestion a) because it's a good book, b) because I haven't read it for ages, and c) I actually own a copy :-)

message 17: by Red (new)

Red Dog (red_dog) | 65 comments Otherwise, I'd suggest A Calculated Life by Anne Charnock - thought provoking & entertaining

message 18: by Craig (new)

Craig | 7 comments I'm definitely interested in Maplecroft.

message 19: by Lara (new)

Lara E Brown (larasaurus) My serious suggestion is A Dirty Job by Christopher Moore. I've really wanted to give another of his books a go since reading The Stupidest Angel.

message 20: by Luis (new)

Luis Vazquez | 1 comments The Expanse Book 1: Leviathan Wakes by James S.A. Corey (top notch space opera)

The Blue Blazes by Chuck Wendig (hard-edged super natural)

Blackbirds also by Chuck Wendig (hard-edged super natural)

I've been thinking a lot about which book I want to suggest and have decided on an author I believe deserving of a second shot:

Old Man's War by John Scalzi.

I'd love it if we read Leviathan Wakes, I was really enjoying it but never got round to finishing.

If you're going to read a wrestling (auto)biography it has to be Mick Foley's Have a Nice Day!

message 25: by Alex (new)

Alex (o_t4ng) | 4 comments Actual suggestions...

High Fidelity by Nick Hornby - because music and lists... and heartache!

Alys by Kiri Callaghan (yes, G&S's Kiri) - very interesting reworking of Alice in Wonderland

And something a bit left-field:
Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing by Judy Blume - childhood nostalgia (for some)
