I re-read The Tempting of Thomas Carrick first, because A Match for Marcus Cynster is really the continuation of it. I don't think either book could be read without the other; for example, one wouldn't properly understand why Marcus has the right background and training to be a consort without knowing the role he played for Lucilla in the Vale.
The twist at the beginning (about the baddie) is good. I'm glad that there was an explanation later for the odd behaviour of the young clansmen, because I found it hard to believe initially. I like the couple, but I felt their relationship moved too quickly, especially in circumstances in which she was feeling harassed.
I enjoyed it, and look forward to a discussion once everyone else has finished!

I liked this different mood from SL. I like that she does different settings, but still maintains her style and comfort zone. It should be interesting to see Marcus' cousins find their way in a changing world - one that SL hasn't written about, yet. Before that, though, we get the Adventurer's Series. High Seas Adventure!
In a twist of her words: as long as she keeps writing them, I'll keep reading them. :-)
