Summer Reading Book Club discussion

For Summer Reading Book Club 2015, things are going to be interesting. This year, the four of us, Mykia, Jess, Summer, and Marina, all have different tastes in books and are therefore giving the participants of the book club many genres to choose from.

Every two weeks there will be new books in different genres to choose from. The schedule for the readings consists of:

First books —June 1st - 14th

Second books —June 15th - 28th

Third books — June 29th - Jul 12th

Fourth books — July 13th - July 26th

Fifth books — July 27th - Aug 9th

Sixth books — Aug 10th - 23rd

The first polls for the first set of books is already posted. It would be great if everyone voted on all the polls even if you plan on reading just one book. The official start date is June 1st but there is no rush and feel free to read the books selected whenever you want and comment on the discussion board your thoughts.

This is about having fun, reading books together, getting to fangirl with other people, and getting a look at other people’s perspectives all at the same time. So hey, why not join us?

What is the Summer Reading Book Club?

The Summer Reading Book Club is a small group that comes together ever summer to read and talk about books! It’s a ton of fun!

How do I join the Summer Reading Book Club?

To join all you have to do is join our Goodreads Group and our Tumblr page! Simple as that!

How does this whole thing work?

This year we wanted to try something different. Last year we had two moderators but this year we have four! So to make things interesting every moderator is going to recommend books from a different genre. Every two weeks the moderators ( iprefertoread | books-cupcakes | bookphile | buttermybooks ) will switch their genres so we’ll be reading all types of different books. Each moderator is going to recommend at least four books from each genre and you guys get to vote on which books you’d like to read from each genre. It’s sounds confusing but all you need to do is vote for the books you’d like to read and we’ll handle the rest!

Books for Week One and Two:

Mystery (one book) (moderator: Mykia)
Young Adult Dystopian (one book) (moderator: Jessica)
Fantasy (one book) (moderator: Marina)
Young Adult Paranormal (one book) (moderator: Summer)

Books for Week Three and Four:

Mystery (one book) (moderator: Mykia)
Adult Contemporary (one book) (moderator: Jessica)
Historical Fiction (one book) (moderator: Marina)
New Adult Romance (one book)(moderator: Summer)

How do I vote the books I want to read?

Voting is simple! You’ll be voting for one book from each of the four genres. You can vote here!

Do I have to read all the books?

Since we are picking new books every two weeks you do not need to read all four books! You can read one or you can read anything in between. Don’t stress out about not finishing all the books!

Where can I discuss the books we are reading?

Most of the discussions will be held on our Goodreads page! Each book will have it’s own discussion page! You can talk about anything related to the book. Did you love it? Did you hate it? Why? Feel free to add anything else including fan art, dream cast, etc.

We want to everyone to have a great time and we you guys to feel safe and encouraged to participate in our book discussions. In order to have this type of environment we ask that you follow these guidelines.

1. Respect is the most important thing. Everyone will be nice to everyone or at least fake it if you want to participate. *Two strikes and you’re out.

2. We are here to have fun and read some bomb.com books, and if for some reason you’re not having a blast and there’s a problem, let either Mykia, Jess, Marina or Summer know!

3. People will disagree about certain things, in fact, disagreements create discussions. I definitely encourage you all to say what you think! But definitely do not insult anyone for their opinion. You don’t like a book, or a character, or a plot? I’m sorry, it happens, but don’t be rude to someone for liking what you don’t. (See rule no. 1)

4. If you are an author please do not advertise your book without checking in with one of us.
