I just realized I hadn't commented on this . . . guess I will open this one up! This might have some spoilers so proceed with caution!
- Flora - She was about 20 bees in one. I am not sure how she kept up with everything and I hardly kept up with her role throughout the story.
- The Wasps - Total jerks - awesome!
- The Sages - I liked them as the seemingly good leaders ending up as corrupt dictators leading to the fall of the hive
Other than the forced and spastic character development of Flora, I did not feel that there was really a lot of character development in this story.

I thought the lack of characterization was on purpose. The bees, in general, were all the same as far as their class/job went, so needed to real characterization. Flora was an individual because she had the capability to be queen. I think.

I can see this being the case - and it was one of the reasons it reminded me of Anthem. And, perhaps that would mean it is not such a bad thing . . . it is just a thing!

It reminded me a bit of Anthem as well, but I hadn't put those two ideas together! Beauty of "discussing...
Did anyone else envision this book as a Pixar animated film? The characters were all so anthropomorphized, I couldn't really avoid imaging them as cartoon characters. I liked Flora, she was pretty bad (in a good way) for a bee. The Sages were elitists and I was glad to see their downfall in the end.
