? Is there any reason for two separate profiles?

re 7, don't we keep alternate-language spellings for alternate-language editions? maybe someone needs to do some clean up to make sure 'Homer' is primary on all of them, but i don't think we're supposed to merge those profiles.

I thought only spellings in different alphabets were preserved.

Don't think so. But perhaps someone else knows...?

No, separate profiles are kept for different versions of the name. George Konrad is named György Konrád in the rest of the world. Homer, Homero, Homerus, Omero (I've probably forgotten a few) are all variations of the Greek Ὅμηρος and are entitled to separate profiles if that is how the name is spelt on the cover. Homer should always be listed first though.
