Me and my daughter read this book together a while ago, and have since took it back off the book shelf to read together again. Again, we still really enjoyed it!My daughter laughs at the little boy Harry's antics and fun little insect characters they meet, whereas I snigger at Dad's funny little quips I'm sure only parent's would get.
Delightful little book.
I read half of the book last night and seem to be in disagreement with others here I'm afraid. I was unimpressed when he referred to a worm as an insect and the language is just not me. There is overuse of the the word "looking" in a way which is starting to irritate me. Things are startled-looking or angry-looking or splendid-looking. It's being used to modify the modifiers in effect and I like modifiers themselves to be used sparingly at most. The humour is good though in places. I can imagine kids laughing out loud at the suggestion of building a helicopter pad for an insect hotel. Also, the illustrations look dainty and intriguing though it's hard to tell in my greyscale kindle version.
No, I do like this book! and my nephews did too. Found the little bits of humour added in fun as well. We also went on to build our own insect hotel, and hoping it works.
