It goes down the middle of the graph, through as many of the points as possible, but don't connect them all, its a straight line. The points that the line doesn't go through should be left to the side of the graph, and there should roughly be the same amount of left over points on each side of the line.

For example this picture:

The line hasn't gone through all the points but its still the line of best fit because it is in the middle of them all and there is roughly an equal amount on each side of the line, therefore meaning this is a line of best fit because it shows the average

Katiecakes_sweetheart | 5 comments Ok I get that part! Here's a question I don't know how to do! The line of best fit for the scatter plot below is y=1.4x+2.9 predict y when x=6

I think you change the x to a 6
So you'll times 1.4 by 6

It says y=1.4x+2.9
So if you chance the x to a 6 the new question will be
y=(1.4*6)+2.9
And because you've changed the question the answer will change, therefore the meaning of y would change which is what you're finding out

So
(1.4*6)+2.9=y
So do that question to work out what y will be
And thats your answer

If that makes sense?

Katiecakes_sweetheart | 5 comments Yes thank you so much! I have a test tomorrow and I didn't understand that part! You were very helpful!

:D
No problem

And good luck on your test
