Kaitlyn | 678 comments The Clock Tower does not begin at the Ground Floor level. Because it is placed on top of a hill, the Tower begins at the Third Floor level. When you enter the Tower, there is a huge space, like an Entrance Hall with flights of wooden stairs at the right and left side. The first landing is at the Fourth Floor level. It is at this landing that are the clock's gears and face. This same corridor connects the Tower to the remaining castle. If you go up another flight of wooden stairs, you will get to another landing, this time at the Fifth Floor level. It is in this landing that are the clock's bells; some massive gold and copper bells. There is another corridor at this landing; like the other, it links the Tower to the main castle.

Melina Stratigos | 59 comments Claire climbed the steps to the first landing in the clock tower. It was her favorite place to sing indoors, since it was raining and she couldn't go outside. She set up her iPod with it's speaker and turned on the piano accompaniment to the song she was preparing for her next audition. Then she began to sing

Emrys. Jack was bored that was the only way to describe what he was feeling at the moment. It was raining outside all his friends were off doing something else at the moment so it was no surprise to him while he was wandering he somehow managed to get to the clock tower. He climbed the first flight of stairs he was surprised when he heard music and even more surprised when he found he couldn't recognize the song which meant it was a muggle song. He leaned against the entrance "What in the world is a Slytherin doing listening to muggle music?" He asked just barley enough so that she could hear him over the sound of her music.

Melina Stratigos | 59 comments Claire held up her finger, telling the boy to wait until she finished the song. After she hit the final note, she pressed the pause button on her ipod before saying "Well, This Slytherin in rehearsing for an audition. However, that's ignoring the fact that muggles and wizards alike should know Les Miserables. It's pratically a classic. And besides, who are you to judge what Slytherin's should and shouldn't listen to?"

Emrys. Jack waited for the girl to finish the song she was doing. When she was done he clapped very slowly almost mockingly. "I see well what would a Slytherin be doing auditioning for a muggle play?" He asked her making a mental. He raised an eyebrow "Well I most wizards don't know Las Miserble and even if they did so what I don't know the name of a muggle song," he said shrugging his shoulders. "So what?" He thought about telling her that his father was the head of one of the departments at the ministry but he didn't think she would really care. "Who me?" He asked pretending to be offended "I'm Jack Elijah Thorne." He said holding out a hand.

Melina Stratigos | 59 comments Claire scoffed "is there something wrong with auditioning for a muggle MUSICAL?" She crossed her arms. "the point is that even wizards know Les MISERABLES because it is a work of art" She said, emphasizing the french pronunciation of the word "I'm Claire McKenna Carter. What brings you to the clock tower?"

Emrys. Jack honestly could honestly care less about whether she auditioned for a muggle play it was just fun to see people get riled up over things that they cared about, which many people accused Slytherins of not doing and to see that the girl in front of him could prove them wrong in one sentence well that was satisfying to say the least. "I never said there was anything wrong with auditioning for a muggle musical did I?" He replied lazily "You just assumed because I asked you why you were auditioning for one I automatically get pinned for being a stuck up pure blood. Our house already has so many people pinning stereotypes on us do we really need to do it to each other?" He asked her wanting an honest answer.

Melina Stratigos | 59 comments "I suppose you're right." Claire sighed "I'm glad you feel that way about pinning stereotypes on our housemates. If only some of them would see things they way you do. I tend to get a lot of flack from others in my year because I don't exactly fit the mold. it's pretty rough being a half-blooded American in Slytherin" Claire smirked. "and that's not even considering the fact that I'm a song-and-dance girl"

message 9: by Emrys. (new)

Emrys. "I always am." He said cheekily grinning like a fool. "A lot of us are more alike than we realize, a lot of slytherins don't get that there is a reason the sorting hat places people like you in Slytherin. You have determination, ambition which are two main characteristics of this house." He said seriously "Anyways enough with my 'philosophical talk' " he said making quotation marks with his fingers "I hear you like to sing. Is that going to be your career in the future or is it just a hobby?" He asked

message 10: by Melina (new)

Melina Stratigos | 59 comments Claire's eyes lit up the moment he asked about singing "Career. absolutely." She grinned "There's nothing I love more than being onstage. Telling stories that affect people, making them feel things they may never have felt before, stories that make them think of something in a different way" She glanced at her feet, a smidge embarrassed to confess this next part. "Plus there's no feeling in the world that standing in the final pose after nailing a big number and letting the audience's applause wash over you"

message 11: by Emrys. (new)

Emrys. Jack had no talent for singing or at least he didn't think he did anyways. He had never actually tried but the way Claire talked about being on stage almost made him want to try, almost. That's just what was so great about it she talked with passion and he wished people who looked down on slytherins could only hear her now. "So where do you plan to go after Hogwarts?" He asked her since it was obvious she wasn't sticking around in the magic world, which almost made him a little upset.

Melina Stratigos | 59 comments "I'm planning on going to a muggle university to study theater, but my ultimate goal is to integrate more magic into theater and help it get more footing in the wizarding world. Muggles have a pretty impressive ability for "stage magic" but it would be even cooler if we could integrate real magic, even in muggle productions, since the muggles would just assume it's stage magic" Claire smiled. "think of it. Elphaba using an actual broom to fly instead of all the crane lift rigs? Ending the stage show of Grease with them flying off in a car like in the movie?" Claire sighed with glee "The possibilities are endless"
