Editing Gal discussion

I want to hear your thoughts about what makes a great editor. Should they be brutally honest, or do you need a more gentle approach? Quick turnaround times? Professional attitude or more laid back?

I like to be more laid back with my clients, but I also try to be as brutally honest as possible while still being gentle to respect their sensitivities. This has worked well for me so far. :)
