No questions. I just want to comment that The X-Files was my first TV addiction as well. :) Love that show!
Just have to say that as a fellow X-Files fan, I LOVE your task! I've recently started rewatching the series on Netflix because I'm so excited about the new episodes. :)
Thanks everyone. I'm SO looking forward to seeing the new miniseries. I hope it lives up to expectations, lol!Time to break out my DVDs and watch them all... AGAIN!
For Option 3, can that also be a former spy? Or does s/he have to be currently employed in that profession?
Trish wrote: "For Option 3, can that also be a former spy? Or does s/he have to be currently employed in that profession?"Sorry, it has to be a current spy.
Catherine wrote: "would A Murder of Quality work for option 3? has espionage as a genre..."Several of the reviews mention that George Smiley is an ex-British agent so I'm afraid that it won't work. The main character must be a current spy or double agent.

fair enough. thanks
Donna wrote: "Can you confirm Monsters of Men for option 2? Aliens is on the very bottom of the main page genres."Confirmed
Just wanted to ask, even if
doesn't work for this task, I think most of the other John Le Carré books work?
Even if Smiley's supposed to be retired, he is still working as a counter intelligence officer in the following books.

There are many John Le Carré books that would work like
, but as for George Smiley, I would have to go on a book by book basis. If it is clear from the GR description or the reviews that he is working as a spy even though he is retired then I will accept.
I'm planning on A Perfect Spy by John le Carré. I happen to own this one, and it looks like one of his that will work.
Bea wrote: "I'm planning on A Perfect Spy by John le Carré. I happen to own this one, and it looks like one of his that will work."Yes, this works.
Thanks! The first one in series directly referenced a spy organization but it's not long enough per ebook rules
In The Accident, one of the main characters is a CIA operative. Does this work? Or does it need to be a single main character to qualify?
Lois wrote: "In The Accident, one of the main characters is a CIA operative. Does this work? Or does it need to be a single main character to qualify?"The task description says "main character" so I'm going to have to stick with that. It must be the main character who is the spy.
May I use In the Stormy Red Sky for the spy character. Adele Mundy is very much one of the two main characters in this series--and very much a spy.
Donna Jo wrote: "May I use In the Stormy Red Sky for the spy character. Adele Mundy is very much one of the two main characters in this series--and very much a spy."Yes, it clearly states that she is a spy. Approved.

Thank you. I really love this series and somehow missed this book.
I'm trying to find a place for The Winner's Crime -- would it work here for Option 3?The main character is playing what feels like more than two sides between different countries, and the GR description states: "Kestrel is becoming a skilled practitioner of deceit: an anonymous spy passing information to Herran, and close to uncovering a shocking secret."
Morgan wrote: "I'm trying to find a place for The Winner's Crime -- would it work here for Option 3?The main character is playing what feels like more than two sides between different countries,..."
Yes, it says that she's a spy. Approved.
I have already read it, but was wondering if Code Name Verity would work for option 3? Such a great one!I am still searching for mine!
Ooh...how about this one for option 3? Seems like it might be entertaining. :)I'd Tell You I Love You, But Then I'd Have to Kill You
Sorry I missed your post, Nicole.Yes, I'd Tell You I Love You, But Then I'd Have to Kill You works for option #3. Enjoy!
Could I use Armada by Ernest Cline to satisfy Option 2 - I Want to Believe? The book blurb on GR says it's about an alien invasion (see the last paragraph), but the book isn't being released until July 14th. Not enough people have read it yet to get the genre "Aliens" to show.

I just posted this for genre verification. Science Fiction > Aliens is currently on the main page.

Thank you, Lauren! No problem as I have many other books to read. HAHAHA

The mods did the verification this morning, so Armada should be good for Science Fiction > Aliens as long as Lauren is cool with it.

Adding it to the approved list at the top.

I've been meaning to start this series. Hope you enjoy it :0)

It has recently been announced by the Fox Network that a miniseries revival of The X-Files is in the works. This was my first ever TV show addiction and I would await with bated breath for each new episode. In honor of the bizarre exploits of Special Agent Fox Mulder and his skeptical partner, Dr. Dana Scully, read ONE book from the option of your choice.
REQUIRED: State which option you chose when posting.
Option 1: THE TRUTH IS OUT THERE
Mulder is obsessed with the alleged alien abduction of his sister, Samantha. He is on a mission to discover the truth about what happened to her. Read a book from the Quests Listopia. Be careful as it is possible that some of the books do not meet the SRC rules.
Required: State on which page of the list your book can be found.
Option 2: I WANT TO BELIEVE
The existence of aliens is a major theme running throughout the nine seasons of the original TV show as well as the subsequent feature films. Read a book with “aliens” or “extraterrestrials” as a main page genre. The genre can be embedded.
Option 3: TRUST NO ONE
Loyalty and betrayal are constant concerns for Mulder and his stalwart partner. They are constantly wary of mysterious enemies with secret agendas or fellow FBI agents with traitorous intentions. Read a book in which the main character is a spy or a double agent.
Required: If the connection isn't clear in the Goodreads description or genre list, explain how your book fits the task when you post.
