Heh. Thanks. I'm glad just to be nominated; wish I could be there at Howard Days to meet all the folks and see the awards presented. Doing a bit of research now, but you can bet the Index and SatCM won't be my final word on Howard scholarship.

With some of the collections you have of letters, poetry, and weird fiction I don't doubt you have plenty of stuff to mine for your research. I do plan to be in Cross Plains for the awards. Good luck to you but as mentioned it's a great honor just to be nominated!
Wish I could attend the REH Days in Cross Plains this year, dammit. You'll have to give us a good report, Michael.
I didn't win! But that's okay, it went to a deserving person: http://www.rehtwogunraconteur.com/rol...

The Venarium —Emerging Scholar
(The following candidates have begun making significant contributions to Howard scholarship through publications and/or presentations. Besides the contributions listed here, each of the nominees was active behind the scenes in 2014, preparing various publications, projects, and presentations for 2015.)
DERIE, BOBBY – Had a significant section on Howard in his book Sex and the Cthulhu Mythos
Congratulations Bobby. It was a great book and worthy of consideration.
Good luck! I highly recommend the book. I also highly recommend his book on The Collected Letters of Robert E Howard Index and Addenda. A lot of research went into these books and it deserves to be recognized. Looking forward to more.
I've been a Howard fan since 1966 and it after the big push of Conan and Sword and Sorcery books in the 1970s there was dearth of new REH publications for several years. All we saw was pastiches by Robert Jordan which I still have never read. Today is a good time to be a Howard Fan with all of the emerging scholars that take his work seriously.
