Author: Kyle G.
Genre/Tone: Urban Fantasy/Thriller/Mystery
Preferred Images: Some a bit more dark, or gothic

Book Name: The Weight of All Things
Author Name: Lav Whitson
Genre/Tone: Young Adult, Realistic Fiction
Preferred Images: city buildings, skyscrapers, maybe blueprints if they can be worked in somehow, or maybe something with a church
Important Themes: Hm. The book is about sexuality and religion and finding out who you're supposed to be vs. who the people around you want you to be. So yes.
Other Info: If anyone decides to make a cover, do whatever you want, really. I'm just drawing a blank right now.

I know it's not my cover so I have no place to critique, but isn't that the Burj Dubai?

message 5: by Elliott (new)

Elliott | 22634 comments Mod
Ooh, I like it, Yue! :D

message 6: by Taylor (new)

Taylor | 0 comments Technicalities aside, that was actually way better than I expected from anyone, because I haven't actually seen anyone's book covers. Good work!

I think I'm going to play around and make one of my own as well with a picture I took in Boston. But I'm kind of lazy, so maybe not.

How do you want the title for this one? Should the book cover have either Black Bird Cave or Let's Find a Lawyer, or the second in parentheses after the first? And I assume the rest of it is a tagline.

Yeah, if you wanted to make one, that'd be great. I'm using Annie's right now, but I like seeing all of the options.

WOAH. This is fantastic! I love the font you used. Augh, now I'm going to have to decide which cover I want to use and deciding things is hard.

Book Name: If We Could Fly
Author Name: Annie Carlson
Genre/Tone: Realistic Fiction. It has a fairly light-hearted tone. It's mostly about a group of college aged friends.
Preferred Images: I'm not sure??? The main character is a dark blond haired girl. Images of groups of friends hanging out? It's set in London. There are some fairly heavy issues dealt with but I'm not sure how you would put them on a cover. Things involving flight... or something but not TOO obvious. Don't find like a picture of plane and then write "If We could Fly" in Comic Sans. Yeah cool.
Important Themes: Major themes are change and how people respond to change. Depression is also a big one. Also just how to not be a sucky human being. Idk how to represent this.
Other Info: Just like... try anything really. I'm having a lot of trouble covering this novel sooo I'm open to lots of different ideas.

Thanks, dude.

I wanted the images to like, fade together more ... but I'm still learning how to use Photoshop and I was tired, so bleh. >.< I'm still pretty happy with it, though.

message 26: by EJ (new)

EJ | 301 comments Book Name: The Misfit Rebellion
Author Name: I'd just prefer for it not to be there as of now.
Genre/Tone: It's realistic fiction, and it's a bit lighthearted but also a little serious at points. It's not anything heavy by any stretch of the means, though.
Preferred Images: Not really sure. Maybe something involving science or something "outcast"-ish if that makes any sense. It takes place in a really small town, if that helps.
Important Themes: It's essentially about a bunch of misfits trying to find where they belong and who they are when everybody pretty much tells them who to be already. There's an internal conflict of religion vs. science, too, but it's not the most prevalent conflict in the book.
Other Info: I don't like full faces on covers, but that's pretty much it.

message 31: by Colby (new)

Colby (colbz) | 3211 comments Book Name: Technical Issues
Author Name: Colby Cox
Genre/Tone: It's like realistic fiction mixed with scifi mixed with fantasy and has a humorous tone. However, I don't want a cover that's just stupid, if you know what I mean.
Preferred Images: Welllll. It has to do with computers. Also cows. Like, a city that is obsessed with cows. So maybe if you can incorporate that somehow?
Important Themes: Even the best things can't last forever
Other Info: In case it helps you, here is the synopsis

Donald Atkinson's main goals in life are to go to a good college and have an actual car, thus avoiding getting splattered by strawberry milkshakes from the Creamy Cow and cementing the possibility of his dating the girl of his dreams. But that all changes when Donald's computer breaks down and he has to spend his entire savings account on a new laptop. The laptop is much better than his old computer, but it seems to possess strange powers, like messing with time and having overly personal knowledge about people, causing Donald to question the line between truth and lie.

Be creative! I'm excited to see how you take this.

message 35: by Colby (new)

Colby (colbz) | 3211 comments No biggie :)

message 36: by [deleted user] (new)

Book Name: Vigil

Author Name: Anna Maxwell

Genre/Tone: It's kind of a drama-romance thing but that's not the main focus. It's quite sarcastic and pessimistic because of the main character.

Preferred Images: None that I know of. But I don't like covers with people on them, for the most part.

Important Themes: Fate, making your own choices, moving on, letting go, sacrificing your happiness for the well-being of others, how meeting certain people can change you.

Other Info: You can read the summary and/or the first chapter here. it's not as cheesy and melodramatic as it sounds i swear i hope
