Acacia (acaciaa) For the discussion of all things movies, whether they're based off books or not. Favorite movies, terrible movies, recent movies, classic movies.

Movies movies movies.

MOVIIEEEEES! YAAAY.

I'm sure many of you will be happy to know that I watched Wreck-It Ralph yesterday. I liked it more than I expected to. There were a lot of genius subtle jokes in there. And the animation was the bomb, yo.

I LOVE Atonement! Keira Knightley is like my favorite actress lol.
Unfortunately I haven't read the book, but I think the film is perfect. I love the cinematography and the costumes and I think all of the actresses who played Briony were fantastic. Yeah one of my favorite films ever.

Sarah (sarah_endipity) | 819 comments I'm watching Clash of the Titans right now!

Yeah. Benedict Cumberbatch does a surprisingly good job of playing a massive creep.

Megan Mweemba (meganlovesbooks) | 3196 comments While I've been sick for the last few days, I watched a bunch of old movies and rekindled/reminded me of my love for certain classic actors (and actresses). Cary Grant is fantastic. Audrey Hepburn, Fred Astaire, Bing Crosby, Ginger Rogers, Bob Hope, Danny Kaye... Gah I love me some classics. :D

I adore Audrey Hepurn. Roman Holiday is one of my favorite old movies.

My friends and I used to have old movie nights in Freshman year and we watched it. I think I'm going to ask if we can start doing them again. I miss old movies.

Aw, that's so cool. My friends and I had a weekly movie night on Fridays throughout high school. We tried to never watch the same movie twice. Haha. We watched a mix of older and newer things ... We watched Roman Holiday together, and Sabrina also (which is another awesome Audrey Hepburn movie, if you haven't seen it.

My thoughts too. I like her in pretty much all her movies, but most of the time it's based fully on the fact that it's Audrey Hepburn and not her actual acting. And then I watch Wait Until Dark.

Megan Mweemba (meganlovesbooks) | 3196 comments I really like Audrey Hepburn, but I haven't seen in in too many things. Just Sabrina, Roman Holiday (which I both love), Funny Face, Charade, My Fair Lady, How to Steal a Million... oh wait, that's actually quite a few. :P

My family kept walking in at the worst possible moments -_-

Auuuugh, I hate it when that happens. And it always seems like it's when I'm watching a show or movie that's not even that "inappropriate" but they still manage to come in during one of those scenes.

message 21: by [deleted user] (new)

So I told my dad a joke from the movie, and I got "The Talk"

Yeah, I like Katharine Hepburn too. And Audrey Hepburn could kind of sing. Well, she had kind of a half-talking-half-singing thing that she did in Funny Face, and it worked pretty well, and I read that she went through pretty intensive vocal training for My Fair Lady. I dunno how it would've sounded if it wasn't dubbed, though. And Julie Andrews is definitely a hard act to follow. But I also read that Hepburn wouldn't have taken the role if she had known her voice was going to be dubbed, so...that's interesting.

I haven't seen My Fair Lady in forever. I've been wanting to watch it again ever since I read Pygmalion. I should maybe actually do that someday.

Agreed. I like her as Tris but not as Hazel, too.

I feel like I got a kind of unfair introduction to Shailene Woodley because the character she plays in Secret Life is like so, awful. God, I can't stand that show (still watched it forever because I'm an awful person.) BUT, I really liked the Descendants, and I think that she's a great actress. I'm very excited to see her as Tris.

Iiiiiii don't know about Hazel. I can KIND of see it. I mean it's not perf at all but I think they picked a good actress, at least.

I first saw her in the Felicity American Girl movie, so I've always been a big fan, haha. But I can't stand Secret Life. Im glad she's finally in other movies.

Megan Mweemba (meganlovesbooks) | 3196 comments I haven't seen her in anything, but I guess since she's getting picked for such big roles, she must be good.

Hopefully.

Haha Secret Life of the American Teenager. It's a show on ABC Family. It is not of a very high quality.

I think Ezra Miller is a very interesting actor but... He seems too scary to play Augustus.

message 37: by Elliott (new)

Elliott | 22634 comments Mod
I don't think he'd be a good fit for Augustus. He has to be, like, jock/boy next-door looking. At least, that's how I saw him.
