Martyn In England, we have book festivals...the most famous is Hay-on-Wye in Herefordshire...this year Tony Curtis is holding a discussion on his autobiography...wow!

Here's a link to the site...this gets people from all around the world.

Plus, Hay-on-Wye is a place with a bookstore in a castle! How super is that?

Maureen (modusa) | 1 comments i have a friend who went to the hay-on-wye one a couple of years ago and i was very envious. we don't really have anything strictly literary but word on the street, and that happens in lots of cities right?

however, i religiously go to TCAF every two years: the toronto comic arts festival where graphic novels and their publishers abound. it's in may of this year, and i am very excited. :)

Kerry Dunn (kerryanndunn) | 3 comments There is a Vegas Valley Book Festival every fall. I've gone the past two years. In 2007 the main speaker was Sarah Vowell who I do love, but no one outside National Public Radio listeners really knows her.

The festival really stepped it up this past October 2008 when the speakers where Michael Chabon and Neil Gaiman - yay!!!

It always has a children's book festival and a comics festival included as part of the fun!

Esther | 1 comments The West Virginia Book Festival is held in Charleston every October. I haven't been yet...it always seems to fall on the wrong damn day.

Best thing about it...it's free.

This was today. I didn't go as it's been pouring and gusting since the early morning here in Boston. Maybe next year.

Hello, I'm David and I live about 20 miles from Hay-on-Wye. Just to let you know that Hay-on-Wye is not in Herefordshire it is in Powys which is in Wales. If you're interesting in this festival you might like to have a look at my blog from the 2010 Festival.

Here's some events that you might interest you in the Hay area if you're around over the next few months.
