I think it's a fine line. For me, horror does usually contain some gore or at least parts which are scary. I think thrillers are more like "edge of your seat." I also tend to consider anything with paranormal elements as horror. Clear as mud huh?

Great discussion topic Max. According to Wikipedia...Horror is a story told to deliberately scare or frighten the audience, through suspense, violence and or shock. *Physical Fear* As for Thriller's Wikipedia says it's a story that is usually a mix of fear and excitement it has a dark or serious theme.
Like Barb said above she feels that Horror has to have a bit of paranormal element to it and I concur. I consider horror to have monsters or over the top lunatics. The setting would also have to play a factor in whether or not it was a horror.
Thriller for me are more psychologically based. A cat and mouse chase. Games and strategic situations that have been planned or well though out ahead of time.
