Vivvie is fierce and determined. She's good at using knives, since her mother made her cook a lot back at District 12. She runs pretty fast, but gets tired easily. She's pretty clever, but doesn't make friends easily. She wants to have at least two allies in the Games. And near the end of the games, she's already planning to kill them in their sleep. Vivvie can't tell one kind of plant from another. She doesn't know which kinds of berries are poisonous and which aren't. Vivvie doesn't care who she kills in the Games, as long as she gets out alive. She's not going to get attached to any of the other girls. Vivvie has never been close to anyone. She and her sister Lorrie were always kind of distant. Vivvie often relies on violence to get what she wants.

Vivvie's parents were always happy together, despite the fact that they were extremely poor. They never trained Vivvie to be violent, since they figured that she would never be in the games. And they told her that they'd prefer her death over her walking out of the games alive. Vivvie always thought that was very ridiculous. Shouldn't her parents want her to walk out alive? Killer or no? At night time, Vivvie would steal the kitchen knives and throw them at trees in the woods. She didn't know for sure that she would get selected as tribute, but she wanted to be prepared just in case. Vivvie's younger sister, Lorrie knew about this. Lorrie didn't tell anybody about this, though. She thought that Vivvie was right to be preparing. Lorrie didn't bother to train or anything, though. No, she would rather die early on in the games than kill other people. When Vivvie's name was called on the Reaping, she forgot how to breath for a few seconds. The whole world froze. But Vivvie still walked up, looking confident and not showing any emotions. Her last words to her family before she left were, "I will come home. I've been training for this for years."

Arden was born in District 4 to a somewhat large family, her father being a fisherman and her mother running their small shop. They were actually quite successful, more so than you would expect. Arden didn't have a luxurious childhood, but it was comfortable. Stable.

Arden didn't grow up preparing for the hunger games. She would've possibly done okay, but she wasn't ever extraordinary. Arden's biggest problem was her constant exhaustion. She fell asleep at night faster than any of her siblings, and she would wake up the latest on weekends. Throughout the day, Arden would continuously feel a sense of tiredness. The doctors could never diagnose this with anything beyond growing. That might make sense because Arden is 5'9" tall.

Arden had always been told she was beautiful. Her hair is naturally white blonde, she has a clear complexion, and her eyes are bright and beautiful. Her first boyfriend, Jonathan, came along when she was 14. He was nothing that special, though, so they broke up after no more than 2 weeks. A few more (Daniel, Nathan) were after him, though they lasted no longer. Arden's only significant boyfriend to date was James. James was a sweet boy. He was polite, helpful, and always respectful. They got on well in school and talked occasionally. They began dating when he finally broke up with his old girlfriend. Arden was overwhelmed with relief and joy, which she took to mean liking him in that way. She got him to spend some more time with her, and she realized it was definitely in that way.

James and Arden were like two peas in a pod. You never saw them apart, only for family meals. They were almost entirely sure they were in love, and maybe they were. Sadly, they never found out. Arden was swimming (only a few weeks before the Reaping where she'd be picked) and went all the way out to the sandbar adults always told children never to go to without somebody else around. You had to swim through pretty deep waters to get there, and the waves could make getting back kind of hard. Anyways, James was urging Arden to come on back. They were going to be late to dinner with both of their families. Arden refused. She told him that they were fine on time and would end up getting there early. James decided to take matters into his own hands and swim out to get her. A wave (must've been 9 feet) came up just as he had his head under the water. Arden called out, but it was too late. The wave swept over him, and James's head didn't come up. Arden called out for help, any sort of help. She swam to where he was lost and looked everywhere. It was too late, though. His dead body was found 2 days later by the Peacekeepers.


Arden must've cried for hours when she found out. It was like everything that she did no longer had a purpose without him by her side. Everything and everyone was bland and boring. The whole world was black and white without him. When she was picked in the Reaping, Arden only had one thought: she would win the games for James.

Amethyst Rose was born into a very wealthy family in District One. Her mother was a past victor of the games, so she expected the very same from their only daughter, which they decided to name a rather odd name, Amethyst. From the age of ten, she began to train every day for the games. After she would get home from school, she would train. On the weekends, she would train. In the summer, she would train. Her whole life was filled with training for the Hunger Games, and she was determined to win. She would get some breaks from training though; she needed some time to party and be with friends.

Through training, Amethyst learned two main things: speed and agility and throwing knives. The "innocent" girl can stab you in the heart ten feet away, then run away so quickly that she won't hear their last scream. She learned some other skills and has mastered their basics, but is still very weak in two areas that she really couldn't train in: clumsiness and food deprivation. Amethyst is used to having plenty of food, and never having to worry about lack of it. If she doesnt have enough, who knows what will happen to her. That may be her death, but who knows. Her clumsiness is also something she has never gotten rid of. She trips rather easily and may say questionable language, which definitely isn't good and could alert enemies. She thinks her strengths make up for her flaws, but is she right?

When Amethyst was eighteen, she volunteered just as she planned, and was excited that just the girls were going to be in it. It wouldn't be easier, but she was a girl, so she knew some common flaws of them. You couldn't trust many girls either... She was simply ecstatic to go into the games, much unlike her competitors. Plus, she would get to go to the Capitol, which was literally to die for. She thought they would at least appreciate the heart on her cheek and her bleach blonde hair - they had to!

That was the most common phrase Katelyn heard as a child. She was always up in a tree, which made since considering that both of her parents were lumberjacks. If she ever had free time, she would go to the opposite end of where they were cutting down trees and climb up one. She would go high, really high, and could manage doing so because she was so light because of the lack of food supply.

Her family was never wealthy by any standards, but usually had enough money to feed Katelyn and her two siblings, Keira and Katie. Sometimes they would go to bed with their stomachs growling, but they didn't have to worry about starving to death. They could always manage to survive another day, and Katelyn was extremely grateful for knowing that. Some people she knew might not make it to next year.

Katelyn was petrified when she got chosen for the games. She and her sisters always alternated years for the tesserae, so it was still pretty unlikely that they would get chosen. She had never trained or anything of that sort, but luckily she was a great climber and also quick and agile. The bad things were that she had a horrible aim and got exhausted quite easily. Hopefully she wouldn't get killed because she was too tired...

Stormy thought she was done with the Hunger Games. After all, it was her last year to be entered in the Reaping. Her family was, as a matter of fact, well enough off that she only had to enter one extra time for tesserae. She had absolutely no worries whatsoever. Then, when her name was called, Stormy practically collapsed right there. She wasn't prepared to have to fight for her life or maybe even kill somebody. Stormy was a mediocre fighter at best, not like a lot of those Career districts. Her family was all older than her, with her closest sibling in age being 20, and the eldest being 28. That didn't really matter, though. None would've volunteered for her anyways. Stormy always has been and believes she always will be on her own.

Ever since she was a small girl, Kyra had been very reserved and quiet. She loved to do art, sketching and painting. However, though her family was able to afford necessities, luxuries were rare and only came in small amounts of birthdays. Since she was in district eleven, Kyra was forced to save drawing for spare scraps of paper and devote her time to agriculture and crops. However, she often liked to hide out in the tree grove near her home, sketching the trees, and as the middle child of five she was usually not missed for some time. This is how she learned to hide from her parents and siblings.

When she turned thirteen, the time for any childish games and such were over. Still softspoken, Kyra worked in the fields full time. With a sickly younger brother and an aging father, she had lots of responsibility under her belt, teaching her to be levelheaded and responsible. However, when she was fourteen her younger brother did die, after there was no medicine for his ailments. Unlike one might suspect, she did not go into depression and take to bed, but worked ever harder, vowing that nobody else in her family would suffer as her brother had.

When she drawn in the reaping, Kyra was devastated. She could heal, but could not fight, she was fast but not strong. How would she survive? But she has began to look forward with hope, clinging onto the hope that she can make a decent alliance and live to the end.

Winter was always very serious and noticed things a lot, never speaking much. Not because she was shy, but because she doesn't much like people. Her childhood was very average - her family was poor. The one coveted item they had was a set of two old swords. It was supposed to be off limits to anyone but her mother and father, but Winter was fascinated by the idea of swordplay. When she was the only one around, she would take it and practice moves with one of them. Eventually her parents found out when she was about ten, but rather than being angry her father decided it was a good idea for her to learn basic self defense if she was ever chosen in the reaping.

Upon being chosen, Winter was actually not dreading it. She hoped desperately to win and prove that she is capable, and having never gotten along well with her family this was her chance for a better future - if she wasn't haunted by the faces of dying tributes for the rest of her life. The only thing that upsets her is that she will have to leave behind her boyfriend, who is one of the only people she loves and has been together with for many years.

Lena Shaftner's family was originally from the Capitol. That's why she looks like a supermodel and not a harvester from Nine. In fact, she grew up in the Capitol until she was twelve. Her family... committed an offense and so was confined to Nine. But despite this, Lena's old habits from the Capitol stuck with her, and so even in Nine she kept plucking her eyebrows.

Personality wise, Lena is outrageously loud. She laughs loud and high pitched. Her style isn't inappropriate but flashy to say the least. Even in the Capitol Lena never donned overly bright colors in any way, but took after Capitol culture in every other way. She's flirtatious but not a brat. Lena knows when too much is too much and while she can come off as rude or a stereotypical blonde, she isn't snappy or whiny on an everyday basis. Highly optimistic and bright, those are two of many positive factors in Lena Shaftner's personality.

One of her Lena's strengths being knife throwing probably threw you off. Whenever she got mad in Nine, she would pick up any sort of knife and throw it at the tree. Every single time every single knife would hit the same tree. Poor tree, yes, I know. But the things people do in anger can be most unreal.

Tamsin has always provided for the family. She learned how to hunt from her father, being that there were no boys in the family. It's not like there were going to kill the animals on the farm so the two went into the forest everyday. She must have been at least seven when she had her first kill. Ever since then, she's been taking care of her family. Especially when her mother died. The death was hard on everyone, but most of all, her father. For the first few days, he didn't even get out of bed. After that, he started working all the time to earn more money for the family, now that they were an one income family. But as the years went by, the more and more her family relied on her, especially her sister Lyla. Lyla is the baby of the family. She's never worked a day in her life, and she is spoiled rotten. Lyla is one of the prettiest girls in the district, giving her all the attention. Often times Lyla is rude and cruel to Tamsin, but she not one to turn away family. Around Tamsins 17th birthday she finally met a boy that she thought was the one. She loved him almost instantly, but she never told her family she was seeing him, out of fear that Lyla would take him, just like she took everything else. But she still found out anyway, and Lyla was seeing him also. It broke Tamsin's heart, and she hasn't talked to her sister since.

Lyla has always been the little sister to Tamsin. She's constantly trying to find way to make herself more appealing than her sister because she hates being in her shadow. That's mainly the whole reason Lyla relies on her. She knows that her sister's so brave and kind. Lyla just takes advantage of her. The whole thing that happened with that boy... Lyla didn't even like him. It was just another thing her sister had that Lyla wanted at time. But in the end it wasn't worth it, and Lyla regrets what she did. She lost her only sister.
