Marinda (marindak) | 39 comments Patrick F. McManus has a funny little essay called "Summer Reading" in his humor book Rubber Legs and White Tail-Hairs. Joan shared with me that her husband thought Pat McManus books were great on trips because they are laugh out loud funny.
What about you? What humorous or other narrative non-fiction books would you love to read or listen to on vacation?

Kira (kiramoody) | 104 comments I've been toying with the idea of listening to Yes Please by Amy Poehler and Bossypants by Tina Fey. I may also try one of Alan Alda's. His look really funny and I always enjoyed the series MASH.

Ashley Baker (schlee25) Ive listened to both Bossypants and Yes Please on audiobook and they were hilarious! Since I was already familiar with their voices it felt like I was listening to a stand up comedy session. And they both had famous "guest voices" come in every once and awhile.

Kira (kiramoody) | 104 comments Ooh, I love the idea of guest voices :)I listened to As You Wish: Inconceivable Tales from the Making of The Princess Bride recently and I loved the guest voices. Although Cary's accent did add a lot to the story. I'm a sucker for a good accent in a narrator. What draws you to a certain voice in a book or audiobook?

Marinda (marindak) | 39 comments So on my commute this summer, I am reading When to Rob a Bank. This is their first book in which both of them act as readers. I like the original reader better, he puts more of his personality into his reading.
I'm only on the second disc, but I like the fast pace of the stories they tell.
What is on your summer reading list?

Karen (rhyta) I just Finished Born with Teeth A Memoir by Kate Mulgrew and it was very good. Kate Mulgrew has a husky dramatic voice that made the audio a great treat to listen to.
