North sat cross legged on her bed, humming to herself as she glared at her suitcase. She really didn't want to unpack. She'd rather wait and talk to her roommate.

Alyssa | 56 comments Esme stopped before the door to her new room. She took a deep breath and pushed the door open, nervous to see who was behind it.

North sat up straighter. "Hi! Are you my roommate?" she asked, trying not to show her nervousness.

message 5: by Alyssa (new)

Alyssa | 56 comments "Yes. At least I assume."
Esme saw an empty bed. She sat down, dropping her bag on the floor beside the bed.

North shifted on the bed. "So, are you new here, too?" she asked.

message 7: by Alyssa (new)

Alyssa | 56 comments Esme nodded. "Yes. The first in my family."

North rolled her eyes. "My older brother's here. He's probably not going to let me do anything fun. But at least he's in Aqueous, so he's not here."

message 9: by Alyssa (new)

Alyssa | 56 comments Esme let out a laugh. "If my brother were here he'd be the same way."

North grinned. "Is he older or younger?"

message 11: by Alyssa (new)

Alyssa | 56 comments "He's older then me by nineteen months. I'll just count my lucky starts he's not here." Esme let a grin come over her face.

"That's good," North said with a smile. "Why isn't he here?"

message 13: by Alyssa (new)

Alyssa | 56 comments "He's not exactly a people person. He'd much rather hunt with father in the woods; or even help mother cook and clean." Esme's smile grew even wider.

North grinned. "That sounds nothing like my brother. So, what are you interested in?" she asked, switching topics.

message 15: by Alyssa (new)

Alyssa | 56 comments "Well, at home I'd always read. When I wasn't doing that I'd be wrestling with one of my brothers. How about you?" Esme asked, now feeling more comfortable.

"I sew sometimes, and write poetry," North admitted, blushing. "And rockclimbing."

message 17: by Alyssa (new)

Alyssa | 56 comments "Cool! I would've loved to go rockclimbing, but we didn't have any mountains where I'm from."

C.B. Cook (cbcook) | 268 comments Mod
"We lived kind of close to the mountains," North said. "My parents don't really know about me going rock climbing. I went by myself until Thorn found out." She grinned. "You should've seen his face."

message 19: by Alyssa (new)

Alyssa | 56 comments Esme laughed again. "I could see myself doing that, the without my parents knowing. Emery would've freaked out as well."
Esme decided that she liked North. Maybe living here wouldn't be so bad.

North smiled. "Do you want to head to the lounge? There's hot chocolate and coffee in there."

message 21: by Alyssa (new)

Alyssa | 56 comments "Sure! Who could pass up those?"

C.B. Cook (cbcook) | 268 comments Mod
((To the lounge, then!))

message 23: by Alyssa (new)

Alyssa | 56 comments Esme sat up in bed. Light poured through the window, telling her it was now morning. She glance at North's bed; made and empty of Esme's roommate. Esme let her gaze wonder to where she kept Tal, but her small red fox was gone.

Esme frantically threw off her blankets and jumped to her feet. For the first time she noticed that North's belongings where tossed about. Esme caught a glimpse of a nose peeking from North's bag.

Esme scooped up Tal, and put her in the cage her father had made, hiding her under Esme's bed. After she had dealt with Tal, Esme hurriedly cleaned up North's stuff the best she could.

Once Esme was satisfied with her work, she rushed off to find breakfast, hoping it wouldn't be mostly meat.
