So, any moron with some money can buy a gun, regardless of previous history of violence, and possibly shoot people, because in the 1700's people made a rule they can have guns because there were literally wild animals knocking at their doors and no police force of any value.

message 3: by [deleted user] (new)

1800s moron...i mean 1800s

and yes i do believe that they should have a lisence should be made and nessesary precautions such as this should be made but... how else would we defend ourselves if we were attacked at home by a mad man...

message 4: by [deleted user] (new)

i have an example of this if you would like to hear it...

message 5: by [deleted user] (new)

maybe you should read the book the Seven Myths of Gun Control...i am right now in fact...

"how else would we defend ourselves if we were attacked at home by a mad man... "

If, indeed, you were caught off guard by a madman, tell me, how you find the time to open your locked gun cabinet, then unlock your ammunition cabinet, then load your gun, then defend yourself, in adequate time?

message 7: by Emily (new)

Emily (emilyamazingxx) | 2237 comments Exactly lauren!

In my opinion, if you want protection, take karate classes. Take self defense. "Guns only make killing somebody easier." As re-adjustedly quoted from: http://www.huppi.com/kangaroo/L-gunsk...

In my opinion also, I believe only police force and army nationals should have guns. Even so, after the wars have been fought, the army nationals should hand in their guns to be held in a safe. Away from others.

message 8: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (djinni) | 7365 comments Mod
No, someone responsible must have guns, because to be caught without one, if they are on duty, could be fatal. The police always have their guns.

message 9: by Emily (new)

Emily (emilyamazingxx) | 2237 comments I wasn't talking about the police. I was talking about the army nationals..a.k.a. the army, navy, and other guards. I'm talking about the troops that go to war. When they come home they shouldn't have their gun on them. Suppose something went wrong? Or someone stole it?

message 10: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (djinni) | 7365 comments Mod
Yeah.

That's why gun registration is so important. People who want to deregulate the gun industry don't think about that.

Emily (emilyamazingxx) | 2237 comments "That's why gun registration is so important. People who want to deregulate the gun industry don't think about that."

You just got me confused. Elaborate please.

message 12: by [deleted user] (new)

SIMPLE... USE A LOADED GUN THAT IS NOT IN A LOCKED CLOSET...DUH...caps sorry...

message 13: by Emily (new)

Emily (emilyamazingxx) | 2237 comments "SIMPLE... USE A LOADED GUN THAT IS NOT IN A LOCKED CLOSET...DUH...caps sorry..."

Then there is the risk of a younger family member or another family member getting to it. Also, there is a risk of say you were to be robbed and the gun were found and taken for a harmful use.

message 14: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (djinni) | 7365 comments Mod
OOO

So you want loaded guns laying around your house?

DON'T YOU KNOW HOW F***#&*#($&()#$ DANGEROUS THAT IS?

Seriously. If you're stupid enough to leave a loaded gun around the house, I have no sympathy if it goes off accidentally.

Em-I'm not sure what I was replying to, perhaps I was talking to myself. lol

message 15: by [deleted user] (new)

then i have a simple solution...teach the child not to touch it...that is what my mom hasd to do with me...

how else would we defend ourselve...like an 87 year old woman who can not take/learn karate...

message 16: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (djinni) | 7365 comments Mod
And she can fire a gun? pfft.

We defend ourselves by locking the door. For starters. Not advertising when we leave the house. Simple stuff.

Just because the child is told not to touch it, do you think they will always listen? It is better to teach information and consequences then just say "don't do it because I told you to!" because that frequently fails.

message 17: by Emily (new)

Emily (emilyamazingxx) | 2237 comments 87+ year old people are at more of a risk of harming themselves with a gun...a;so, if the child has a mental issue then what? and what if the child becomes a teenager going through a lot of stress and wants to commit suicide?? I guarantee you that they won't give a flying rat's poop what their parents said when they were younger.

Lauren-lol ok

message 18: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (djinni) | 7365 comments Mod

oh and sorry, sara. I don't mean to make you feel like you don't matter in this. Or that I'm smarter. I'm just stating facts and opinion.

the mentally challenged child should not be allowed in certain places...like a place with a gun...

and the older people can shoot guns and if they can not do tings like that then they should have a person there to help then or be in a nursing home

If all nursing home ladies get a gun, there would be an uprising from their union. lol Not gonna work.

message 23: by Emily (new)

Emily (emilyamazingxx) | 2237 comments "Maybe they have arthritis."

Even a person with arthritis can shoot a gun. It may hurt but they can do it.

message 24: by [deleted user] (new)

i never said anything about the nursing home ladies getting a gun...

message 25: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (djinni) | 7365 comments Mod
Well, if the old lady needs someone to shoot a gun for her, who else would it be?

message 26: by The New Maria (new)

The New Maria (emeraldmaria) | 1950 comments Actually, most people who have died in their house from robbers coming in have died from the shot of their own gun, that the robber stole and used against them. It's like 70% or something, I dunno. It's been a while since I read the article. Oh and one time there was this idiot cop who left a loaded gun in the house and his son had a friend over and the little boy thought it was a toy gun so he shot the girl in the head with it, she died. And it's stupid because many people who have shot a person who has broken into their home get life in prison or the death penalty.

message 27: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (djinni) | 7365 comments Mod
Guns are either safe in cases and useless in tight spots, or loaded around the house and extremely dangerous.

message 28: by Samantha (new)

Samantha | 120 comments exactly !!

it's 77% btw

Emily wrote: ""Maybe they have arthritis."

That's not true, arthritis gets really bad sometimes.

message 30: by Emily (new)

Emily (emilyamazingxx) | 2237 comments Yes I know, my friend has arthritis, but as much as arthritis can hurt, if you're willing to protect yourself, you won't care about pain.
It's known as adrenaline. You get it and don't care about anything else until afterwards when it comes to protecting yourself.

message 31: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (djinni) | 7365 comments Mod
Let's go all out. Say the person had lost their finger. Or really can't. Then they have the gun, but can't fire it. The intruder takes the gun and kills them. If they had no gun, they might still be alive.

Hypothetically speaking, of course.

message 32: by [deleted user] (new)

None of us know what arthritis is like.
Look at this:
http://www.theherbprof.com/images/Art...
Do you think THEY can fire a gun?

Lauren (djinni) | 7365 comments Mod

message 34: by Samantha (new)

Samantha | 120 comments my grandma has arthritis and she can't even open a peanut butter jar, how is she supposed to shoot a gun?

message 35: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (djinni) | 7365 comments Mod
The gun requires aim too. More then likely, she'd shoot her own foot.

message 39: by [deleted user] (new)

i have a quick statement that is so true...

GUNS DON'T HURT PEOPLE. PEOPLE HURT PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!

message 40: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (djinni) | 7365 comments Mod
But guns make it so much easier.

message 41: by [deleted user] (new)

i repeat GUNS DON'T HURT PEOPLE. PEOPLE HURT PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!

message 42: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (djinni) | 7365 comments Mod
Repeating something doesn't make it true, nor does it convince us of it's accuracy.

message 43: by [deleted user] (new)

yes but it is accurate

message 44: by [deleted user] (new)

and i do believe people are killed with other things...our fingers shot the gun should we cut them off and give them to the government as well as our hands seeing as we hold the guns with them and we can strangle some one with them...and knifes because they kill people we can all start cutting things with something else i guess...and cars there are hit and runs so we all have to turn in our cars (automobiles like trucks and buses) and start walking and taking bikes. it all comes down to the fact that a lot of things should be taken away if they wanna control things that hurt and kill people. we would pretty much have nothing.

message 45: by Samantha (new)

Samantha | 120 comments well, having guns in peoples homes makes it alot easier for people to hurt people

message 46: by [deleted user] (new)

and it also makes t asier for people to defend themselves.

you guys should read the seven myths of gun control

message 47: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (djinni) | 7365 comments Mod
The gun was designed to kill. It has no other purpose then to hurt.

Other things cause accidents, but that is not their primary function.

message 48: by [deleted user] (new)

the gun was designed for was purposes...with out war weapons what would be used in a war...our verbal insults...it was also designed for self defense...i also believe we are both crazy...how do we know what it was designed for we didn't design it

message 49: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (djinni) | 7365 comments Mod
What other purpose can you think of or a gun, besides to hurt and kill? What other purpose can it serve?

message 50: by [deleted user] (new)

to defend yourself
