message 1: by Anna (new)

Anna Is anyone excited for a particular book which is to be published soon?

I can't wait for the final installment of The Passage trilogy by Justin Cronin.

In July (I've been waiting a year), the second book to The Ivory Prison by Ashyln Daube is coming out with a second book The Dark Chamber. What is The Passage series about?

Hayley Stewart (haybop) | 44 comments I have to wait until September for the two books I'm looking forward to to be released :(

The first is Master of Shadows

The second is Tom Holland's Dynasty (sequel to Rubicon).

Rather excited for both :D

Anna I don't even know when my next books are coming out! September isn't so long away.

Have you got something to keep you busy until then?

Hayley Stewart (haybop) | 44 comments Oh yes, I have lots to keep me busy until then.... and not just on the reading front!!

September isn't so far away now (was when I started), I'm just ignoring the wait for Song of Ice and Fire #6 ;)

Anna Oh Game of Thrones! Are you watching the series? I think I would get lost in the books.

Hayley Stewart (haybop) | 44 comments I was watching the series but the end of s4 was the last I saw. Before then I could handle the changes they amde to the characters and events - but having heard all the differences that have been amde to the latest series I just can't do it. It'd make no sense to me - especially given what's been teased for the next book.

Anna Oh but season 5 was great! I think they have to make some changes sometimes to keep people watching. Oh it is worth a watch, trust me =D

Hayley Stewart (haybop) | 44 comments No, sorry, I feel in love with characters that were really well done in the books - and then made out to be these people with no real motivations or thoughts on screen. I also fell in love with characters that have not even been allowed to exist on the screen. How can one person be jumping off the wall up north (thus taking away what I considered to be a non-tv character's really rather helpful influence in Reek seeing his reflection of his own breakdown and thus breaking out of it) when they're meant to be in the eeyrie assisting their 'father's' own plottings and plannings whilst coming up with their own?
Also other characters have lost their... well.... character, their moral standing which actually made them not that bad - and it's ignored and changed to achieve nothing?

I mean, I stuck with it when the people who make decisions on the show decided to throw in a rape plot point just for 'shock value' because 'omg game of thrones;.... but no, enough is enough. The only real similarities now seem to be the names :(

Anna Fair dos. I suppose it isn't for everyone.

You still have the books though. Nothing will change that. The books will still have those characters you fell in love with and all the emotions which they go through.

Have you seen a change within the books since the series came out?

Hayley Stewart (haybop) | 44 comments The last book was released July 2011, the show started April 2011 - so not really had any impact ;)
And from what I've read I doubt there'll be that much impact on the next book (whenever it finally gets released). To be fair there can't be too much change to fit with the show as there have been 5 books (well 7 but split books) already to set it all up. Can't really see characters magically teleporting across country or suddenly being erased because that's how it is in the show (gosh there is 1 character I would go back to the show for if they were introduced). I think Martin has his plans and the producers have theirs.

Oh I see. I really thought they released a book not so long ago.

Glad the books are staying as they should be. Wouldn't want them to ruin everything for you, just because the show is a massive hit. Talk about devastating.

Sorry you didn't enjoy the show. Was you looking forward to it? To be honest adaptions never live up to the books. Ever.
