Park
Emma walks out to the park and sits at a park bench and takes out her lap top and phone.
Emma jumps a little and looks up from her laptop and sees a girl standing in front of her with her hand out. Emma took the girls hand and said:"Oh I'm Emma."
"Oh no your fine. I'm just emailing my dad and big sister." Emma said nodding towards her laptop.
"Heart" She said closing her laptop and putting it back in her bag and grabbing her phone and texting her brother. "You?" She looked up at Alanna.
"Not long me and my brother just moved here from Florida for school."
"Twins" Emma said nodding her head slowly.
"A lot you have to be careful over there." Emma pulled up a picture of an alligator that was in her back yard once on her phone, and showed it to Alanna.
"No. We stay away from them. And snakes." Emma pulled up a picture of a Cotton Mouth snake and showed it to her. "we find these too."
"Will do." Emma laughed to herself.
"Wow I never seen a moose but i've had horses." She said
"Then stay away from snakes and alligators they'll be happy any you'll be alive."
"Um... Art, photos, band, computer, and french." She said ticking them off.
"Cool. I like to speak french so yeah. And im really good at take pictures. And art." Emma said.
"Yeah i have a lot of pics of my dad sister and brother. I just like to take pictures. My brother takes pictures to. Its just fun to capture life's moments on camera so i always have a camera or my phone with me." Emma said holding up her phone.
"Cool i play basketball with Austin." Emma said the her phone buzzed.
Emma took out her phone and took a picture of the park. She saw something that just had to be in a picture. 'Nothings to big for a picture' she told her self.
"Have fun. i'm going to go back to my dorm." Emma said packing up her stuff. "Nice meeting you, Alanna"
Emma stood up adjusted her skirt and swung her bag over her shoulder and grabbed her phone and started walking towards the school. "bye" She said over her shoulder.
Austin and Amari walked out into the park.
Amari smiles as the wind brushes past her, she loved it out here, so nice and calm.
Austin saw her smiling and he smiled too and took out his phone and took yet another photo.
She hid her face with her hands, "Nooooo, your mean!" She whined. She sat on the grass and started plucking a few pieces out.
"Too late, Amari i already got what i needed" He said sitting down next to her. "Hey you know its ok to let down you guard just a bit and let people in?" He asked looking at her.
She nodded, "Yeah maybe. But that never really helps." She replied looking at the grass and not at him.
"You should try it tho" he said still looking at her.
She looked at him slowly, "I'm trying." She said honestly.
"Really? Then can you start with me?" he asked
"That depends. Will I regret it later? The few people who I do let in just end ip disappointing me." She sighed sadly then shook the thoughts out of her head and looked back at him, "Well? Will I,"
"No i would never disappoint you. One thing ive learned from when my mom died is not to hope for that much. Because you'll only end up getting hurt or disjointed." He said staring at her.
"Well I pretty much live by one rule and thats shut everyone out." She said. Everyone. "I'll try "
"But its okay to hope just a bit and to let your guard down too."
"But not to much" He said looking at the trees. He took his phone out and took a pic of the trees. "And to capture life's memberal moments."
She smiled at him a bit. "So you and your sister are close?"
"Yeah weve been close since birth."
She smiled, "That must be nice."
"Yeah were best friends. You cant separate us." He said and smiled.
"Ah yes. I have no siblings so I don't know what that is like." Actually she had no family in general, but that wasn't really on topic so she said nothing about it.
"How bout a mom or dad?" he asked.
"Yeah. Um my dad died when I was seven and my mom died about a week after I was accepted here." She looked at the ground and bit her lip. She just really needed to shut up. Dang it! Her big mouth! She shook her head. She never even thought about it, why was she talking? Oh gosh. She thought.
"I'm sorry. May i hug you without getting hit?" He asked with a small smile hoping she'll let him hug her.
She nodded then looked at th floor. No! She was not going to cry! She didn't cry. No! Amari had never cried. Not since she was five. She was NOT going to cry. She could feel the tears coming to her eyes, but she pushed them down.
Austin hugged her the way he always hugged Emma when she needed to be hugged."You know you can cry its just me here." He asherd her
She let out a sob. She had never cried for her parents. Even at the funeral she was convinced she couldn't cry. But now the tears were coming. She tried to get them to stop but they were already flowing.
"Its okay let them out." He said in a low soothing voice and smoothed her hair.
