A little worried about Walking Dead as I am not a zombie fan. But I'm sure I can find something.

I am also not a big fan of zombies so don't worry

There will be a "cheet sheet" posted when a show is chosen, there should be enough to make it easy to find a book in any genre. With or perferably with out Zombies.

For the Names:
Are the first names of major characters not acceptable.
For instance, Jack or Carly or Holden (all Snyders).

does it have to be Snyder, or would Jack (first name only) be acceptable?

On books you find on the shelf is 1pt. So it has to find on Serial to get the 1pt. Not series or serials shelf

Katya, I think the mods did a pretty great job hitting the major "families" the show was built around. the only person I would have considered a key figure that they left off was Hal Munson (RIP). Hal was a huge part of the show too. But other than that, it's hard to find a major character who wasn't a Walsh, Synder et al. either by birth or marriage.

Now, if they let us use first names, this would be a lot easier (LOL). I know I can find a Jack, Molly, Lucy, Barbara etc!

I am still confused about shelves....what does shelves mean? Where? What? Forgive my ignorance.

Ok sorry all, my daughter got sent home from school with an ear infection and I've been a tthe doctors all afternoon.


I'll try to help answer the questions now. If I miss something please ask again.

Katya the shelf is listed in the coming up next thread. it is http://www.goodreads.com/shelf/show/s... you get 1 point if the book is on that shelf.

I am going to say only the last names listed. There are too many first names over the course of the shows history. It would be too easy.

I think doctors would work as a plot point so yes I'd take psychiatrist.

There's a shelf given with the show that's called. For this show it's the shelf Serial. So any book that someone has shelved "serial" gets a point for being on the shelf. The link to the shelf is with the show and all the into that counts for points.

Can we read more than one book for the challenge or only one?

Katya, when people read a book,they tag it something.
If you pick a book that at least one person tagged "serial" then you can get a point for serial shelf.

For instance, I am reading Dark Needs at Night's Edge right now (IAD book 5). On my booktags, I have vampires, witches, ghosts, paranormal romance).

If you go to a book, on the right side, you will see "GENRES". It is right under the "other editions" area. You will see the shelves taht people tagged a certain book. The most used "tag or shelf" will be at the top.It will say something like this

I agree psychiatrist will work as long as it is a major plot in the book. The main character going to a psych once or twice wouldn't work, IMO.

Thanks Dawn and Jennifer. The main character is a psychiatrist and someone is convincing her patients to commit suicide.
