This genre is so heavily dominated by female leads that I thought I would start a list for the very rare series with male protagonists.

I know a few series where the protagonist is male:*Monster Hunter International series by Larry Correia

*Vesik series by Eric R. Asher
*Hellequin Chronicles by Steve McHugh
*Cal Leandros series by Rob Thurman
That's all I can think of at the moment:)
My Fada Shapeshifter series features male protagonists, although the women get a lot of space as well. The main character arc is the man's, though. The Fada Shapeshifter Series by Rebecca Rivard
Am really enjoying - Prince Of Fools
Main character is a wastrel, a scoundrel and tenth in line for the throne. Against his will he embarks on a quest to save the kingdom. Funny, action packed, dash of horror (undead, unborn evil agents).
This has a male protagonist, its a paranormal dark fantasy novel. http://www.amazon.com/Farogat-Society...
Just stumbled across Elliott James' excellent Pax Arcana series. Lead is a former Knight (protector) kicked out of the order because he is also a werewolf. Hero is flawed but ultimately noble - and there is a surprising amount of humour running through these books. Start with book 1 Charming
It's an older book by David and Leigh Eddings from 2000, but
. Althalus is described as an unrepentant rogue and scoundrel who crosses paths with a goddess while on his way to steal a special book. She sort of drafts him to help her in her battle against her devil brother.I thought it was a wonderful adventure novel similar to Tolkien or McKiernan. There really isn't much romance as I recall, just a fantasy adventure. For that matter, Eddings other series, the Belgariad and Mallorean have mostly have male characters.
I feel like the explosion of female leads was mostly a response to the fact that science fiction and fantasy books back when I was younger (You know, way back when rocks rocked ;P ) the majority of sci-fi/fantasy books featured male heroes. As more female authors entered the genre, we started seeing more female leads. My opinion on the subject anyway.
