Buy clothing here!

Elvenquill | 137 comments Biblius walked in, looking embarrassed. He patted his left pocket, where his wallet was. Hopefully he would have enough in the clothing budget to cover a couple purchases... And hopefully he wouldn't make a fool of himself. Like last time! He shook his head, clearing his thoughts. He was built for science, not humans interaction.

Lavender was already at the cash register, frustrated. She wasn't very good with math. She saw Biblius and walked towards him, happier being away from the cash. "Hello! Welcome to Sensible Styles. Are you looking for something in particular?" she asked him. She always liked greeting people and answering questions for some reason. Even with all that math stuff, she still did love her job and didn't want a different one.

Biblius nervously ran his fingers through his hair. Here he was again, in public!
"Um, yes. I have a couple requests, queries, whatever term you prefer." He rubbed his temples, as if ensuring they were still intact. They were, weren't they?
"I am, rather fond of wearing suits on a normal basis, however, the buttons have, eh, come off a few of mine. On the jackets. I usually order online, but the need is rather urgent. Could I either get them repaired, or do you have a selection in store?"
He needed to get a grip, if he was any more bumbling she would take him for a teenager. Which he was, but nonetheless.

ella ((And can you please edit the first post and make it at least four lines? I don't mean to nag, but the rule is to have at least four lines.))

Elvenquill | 137 comments ((Isn't it? OH the first one yes I can! sorry!))

message 11: by ella (new)

ella ((Ah and sorry for the confusion, present tense is fine. In most groups with Analeese it's past tense, so I assumed it was here as well. But I don't see any rules about that.))

Lavender smiled. "Of course!" she exclaimed. Though a little confused, but she would never admit that. If she got fired, she'd probably die. "Right this way," she said. She gestured for. Biblius to follow her with her hand. She tried to remember where this could be fixed... oh yes, near the upper left corner of the store. They had different varieties of buttons and such there.

message 14: by Elvenquill (new)

Elvenquill | 137 comments Biblius did his best to duplicate the smile, but it probably looked like a clown's grimace. He paused for a little less than a second mid stride. Clown's grimace? Surely this wasn't him thinking. It had to be the stress. Stores usually didn't have this bad of an effect on him, but the prospect of the buttons did. There was no chance they carried the exact same buttons he needed. He needed to calm down! Then The Thought hit him. Had he missed his medicine? No, surely not. He smacked his forehead lightly. Such thought could not be tolerated in such an environment.

Elvenquill | 137 comments ((Just to clarify, it's not drugs he's talking about. He takes behavioral medication to reduce stress and depression etc.))

Lavender moved her right hand forwards and backwards again. Since Biblius wasn't following her. But this happened a lot, she was used to customers like this. Sometimes angry people would come in and ask if they sold any TVs, or really annoying people that wouldn't stop making noise. And, oh yes, crying babies. Very loud crying tantrum throwing babies.

message 22: by Elvenquill (new)

Elvenquill | 137 comments Biblius shook his head again, this time harder. He started walking again. Purpose. He had to focus, or he would be stuck with Internet ordering buttons that didn't even fit. What would stop this infernal clotting of his mental functions? Conversation? He almost laughed, but it was worth a try. When he was within range of talking in what he hoped was a normal, conversational, (friendly?) tone, he spoke.
"So... Um, how has your day been?" Focus. That was all that mattered. Buttons. And maybe some new socks... But the attendant didn't need to help him with that.

"Oh, great! I'm a bit busy at work, but to me that's a good thing. How about yourself?" Lavender asked, while walking at the same time over to the left upper corner of the store. She was still thinking about those crying babies, but couldn't let that be revealed. Or that would be very weird.

message 24: by Elvenquill (new)

Elvenquill | 137 comments See? This wasn't so bad. She had responded, and didn't seem annoyed with the hesitant start to his sentence. Something he probably would have not let slide with a mere acquaintance. He chuckled at this self-aimed joke. This was more like it. Composure reentered his thoughts and he began to feel more like himself.
"Quite well, thank you. I have my class tomorrow, but I allowed myself to sleep in today. Always makes for a good start. The klaxon I have wired to my alarm clock does get annoying." He stopped himself from cringing. Maybe the klaxon hadn't been a smart thing to mention. He was definitely not in his element.

Lavender laughed. "Oh, wow!" she said in a friendly way. "What kind of class do you have tomorrow?" she asked. She wasn't sure if Biblius meant he had a class to attend himself, or if he was teaching a class so she let him say that. Working here was fun, since you also get to have a conversation with customers.

message 26: by Elvenquill (new)

Elvenquill | 137 comments Biblius' step became more relaxed, she did not appear to have noticed the comment about the klaxon.
"I'm Biblius Pyre. I teach Advanced Science. How old are you? I haven't seen you at the Academy before." Some students appeared to enjoy his classes, others did not. Hopefully he would be able to prejudice her in favor of the former, if he could produce a demeanor that seemed friendly. She seemed to be about school age. He hoped he was right in the assumption.

"I'm seventeen," Natalie said. She had to get her work done and couldn't let chatting go on forever." She pointed to some jars of buttons, having just arrived in the upper left corner of the store. "So here are some varieties of buttons," she said, then held up a small metal thing. "And here we can repair them."

message 28: by Elvenquill (new)

Elvenquill | 137 comments Of course. Back to focusing. He pulled out his phone, opening photos.
"I keep most every button to near every article of clothing I own on record. One moment." He scrolled through several dozen photos of sheet music and electric cellos with obscenely high prices. It never hurt to dream, did it? He finally found what he was looking for. The extra button from each of about five sport coats, all laid out next to a ruler. He suddenly felt very foolish.
"On second thought, could you just point me toward your men's formalwear? I don't want to waste your time." What had he been thinking? A ruler was probably overkill. Klaxon, ruler, overkill. Idiocy.
"I'm terribly sorry, I don't... Talk to people much. I'm not... Good at it. Or... People in general. Or buttons apparently." He was tempted to cradle his head in his hands. Headache oncoming. Perfect. The Internet was so much easier.

message 29: by Elvenquill (new)

Elvenquill | 137 comments ((Isn't 17 the age for Advanced Science? Should I have Biblius recognize Natalie as a student or nah... Don't want it to be unrealistically drawn out?))

message 30: by ella (new)

ella ((Idk. You could ask Analeese, I guess.))

Lavender didn't really know what she was supposed to say. He kept changing what he asked before she had a chance to even speak. But she often dealt with situations like this, so it was nothing she hadn't dealt with before. "So you want to go to the men's formalwear?" she asked, since she was very confused.

message 31: by Elvenquill (new)

Elvenquill | 137 comments Biblius licked his lips. It was quite hard to be sure, but she appeared impatient. Best to answer in the positive and not reveal his considerable indecision.
"Yes, that would be best. Thank you."
He blew out slowly. Control over elegance. Control over elegance. "I'm terribly apolegetic for any inconvenience I may be causing." Oh, how he l o n g e d for his apartment. Business first though. Always.
