Shire was always a very peaceful place. The land was made up of 3 kingdoms, Chrysandre, Peridot, and Faedler. Always being ruled by 3 queens, none of the 3 kingdoms ever had any problems. Although, some people had problems with the witches who lived among them. Witches could do magic, while other normal people could not. The witches' main power was blowing strong gusts of wind, but they could also use magical potions. Both men and women who could do magic were called witches. None of the queens had ever had a problem with the witches. Sometimes they even married them.

But one day, a witch broke a Chrysandre queen's heart. The Chrysandre queen, Jessica Feyne, had been dating a handsome witch named Khristian Newvet for 3 years, when he suddenly broke up with her, saying that he would rather be with someone who could understand what magic was like. Heartbroken, Jessica banned all the witches from Chrysandre, and persuaded her sisters to ban all the witches from their kingdoms too.

The witches fled to a forest not far away from the kingdom. Using their magic, they built an underground home for themselves. They often came out above ground though, but never interacted with the humans. The humans moved on from the witches, although they had a harder time making everything work without the witches' magic to help them. Whenever one of the queens died, the kingdom would choose 3 of one of the queen's daughters to become the rulers of the land, so that the 3 queens of Shire were always sisters. If a queen didn't have 3 daughters, or couldn't, then one of the other queen's daughters would become the rulers.

The witches, in the meantime, had formed 4 tribes, all of which lived underground. The tribes were called Viridescent, Aqua, Fulvous, and Vermilion. 4 colors. All of the witches had green, blue, red, or yellow blood. If they were yellow, they would go to the Fulvous tribe. Vermilion is red blood. Viridescent is green blood. And Aqua is blue blood. The blood of a witch is based on their parents' blood. Some witches, however, didn't like the idea of having a tribe, and ran off to live on their own. These are the more dangerous witches, the ones who are more prone to killing humans. Credit for the idea of the tribes goes to frootzilla.
