Do you choose the slave girl or the mask who's been your friend since you could remember?

So I'm still in the beginning of the book, but so far I really like Laia (she just seems nicer)...but that may change as I read on.

This is a hard one for me. I really like both girls. I think Laia a little more but I like the idea of him being with his best friend, cruel as she can be.

Now that I've finally finished the book.. I still have to go with Laia. I understand Helene is his best friend and there's a lot of tension there... but I just loved Laia's character so much..

I love Laia but she is so naive. You live in a totally f'ed up world, stop and think, you can't just trust everyone. Helene would be a hard one, but they did grow up in the same kind of environment. Oh heck just be a polygamous and get with them both
