Elements Academy discussion

A smallish stretch of woods at the edge of the Academy's grounds, this side of the grounds borders the Dark Country, so adventure seekers heading this way beware!

Genevieve sat on a tree branch near the edge of the woods. She was fully visible, a rare time. Even when she was sleeping she preferred to be within the shadows, this was a her small effort at 'meeting' people. Though she silently refused to speak to anyone who came to pass, in the back of her head she knew she wouldn't keep that promise.

Charlie ran into the woods, continually checking behind him, and finally slowed to a stop. He sighed in relief, then looked up. He nearly screamed when he saw a girl perched up in a tree, then stifled it and just stood there, looking up at her.

Genevieve saw the boy a bit distressed-okay that was an understatement. He looked scared, she wasn't surprised she liked scaring people but this time she didn't think she was the main reason for him being frightened. Instead of speaking, she waved.

Charlie, straightened his jacket, then sank back, nearly hitting a nearby tree, but disappearing into shadows in the nick of time. He reappeared a branch above the girl, waiting for her to notice.

"He's from shadow then" Genevieve mumbled, disappointed at the boys disappearance. With a sigh, she turned around so she could lay on the branch-instead spotting the boy on the branch above her. Genevieve jumped, falling off the branch and falling to the ground below.

Charlie gave a sniff, then hopped down to the ground beside her, landing like a cat. He held out his hand to help her up, thinking as he did so, Why am I doing this? Stop it, Charlie, she'll be just like all the rest back when you were 11! Pull your hand away! Stop! But he didn't pull his hand away, and stood there, hand outstretched.

Genni gave him a strange look before excepting his hand and standing up. She felt the heat crawl along her cheek bones, she usually was the one doing the scaring not the one being scared. "T-thanks" She hated talking to people, but she kinda owed the guy for helping her plus not many people could scare her as he did.

"Welcome." Charlie said, and just stood there for a moment, thinking of something to say. This didn't happen very often. In fact, this whole scenario didn't happen very often. Charlie didn't know what it was, but something about this girl made him feel like he wanted to be friends with her. He hadn't felt this in a long, long time.

"Er, so, Dark is your element?" Charlie said awkwardly, his own voice sounding strange to him.

"Yes, Obviously it is yours as well" Genni pointed out. Friendship wasn't her thing, talking wasn't her thing, having any contact with a human being, not her thing. But it seemed normal. Like it was alright for her to talk to this boy.
"Im Genevieve, but most people call me Genni. Kids in my neighborhood call me Cheshire though"

"Ah..." Was all Charlie could think to say.

"Wait, why Cheshire?" he added after a moment's thought, a dozen ideas going through his head at once then discarded in an instant.

"I like to....scare people by apearing through shadows missing a body part or only my head etc." Genni said queitly, she never had told anyone about that.

"Oh...wow...I hadn't known that was possible..." Charlie said, and it got quiet again. Charlie, usually treasuring silence, now felt awkward and wishing for sound - something he was entirely unused to.

"Took a lot of practice, after a while you get used to it." Genni smiled at him. "Whats your name anyway?"

"Oh, Charlie...Bardell." Charlie said, not knowing quite what to do with his hands, so he just stuck them in his pockets and leaned back and forth on his heels.

"Hmmm..." Genni said looking around for somthing to do. "Uh, any creepo special abilities you have that I should know about" She said lightly, as if it was a joke.

"Weeeeeell..." Charlie said, gaining confidence now.

"I do have this ring, that -" with a twist of the black stone on the band, he had disappeared.

Genni this time did not jump, but did look suprised. She took a step back as if looking for him. "How did you-" She didn't know how to finish her sentance. It wasn't like he disapered into the shadows. It was diffrent.

Suddenly, a tall, red haired and golden eyed man walked into the forest, grinning slightly. He waved.

"Hello, Genevieve..."

"Who the heck..." Genni took a step back, hitting a tree. "Who are you?" She said calmly, wondering wear Charlie was.

"Oh, you don't recognize me, do you?" he said calmly. All of a sudden, the bright red hair, golden eyes, and older appearance melted away, and there stood only Charlie, grinning and eyes twinkling.

"It's the ring," he explained, before Genni could ask. "It allows me, to, sort of change my appearance. It's pretty cool."

"You scared me, Jesus" Genni said, dramatically putting a hand over her heard, then laughing. "Way better than my ability, I must say. Cheshire Cat girl versus Shape shifter guy, you win by a land slide"

Charlie grinned again.


((I have absolutely no idea what to do now...lol))

((lol, sorry I took like...a week to reply...my bad))

"Uh, I should get going...you know school and such. I will...see you around?" Genni stuttered terribly, causing her to roll her eyes at her own stupidity.

((lol it's okay - I haven't had access to my computer for a while (away from home) so that's why it has taken me a bit to answer too))

"Um, yeah - bye!" Charlie quickly melted away into the shadows, embarrassed to show his red face. Had he just made a friend?
