Welcome back, Sandy! Off the top of my head, Hall's book is one of the original 500 GBBW, so I hope you enjoy it! As for Summer of Women, feel free to keep using this board to keep track of your reads of books written by women. I haven't figured out yet what will happen next year, but there's a chance you can just continue this same board so long as this group exists.
Yes, welcome back, Sandy! I am sorry that you've been dealt some health issues that are slowing your reading down. But think of it this way, you're still able to read. And you have a couple women author's under your belt. I haven't read any yet. I'm not sure if I'll be able to..Aubrey, I think it's a great idea to keep this thread open for group members to keep track of their reads.:)
Sandy wrote: "I am now reading The Good Earth, by Pearl S. Buck. It wasn't on my original list but came to me via a recommendation swap in another group. It must be on the GBBW! I didn't check."Buck's actually represented by Pavilion of Women in the original 500 GBBW. My ratings tell me that I liked PoW better than TGE, but I'd have to reread both to be absolutely sure.
Sandy wrote: "You are right, Dustin. Thanks for reminding me to look at the positive side of things. Elizabeth Bowen was a new author for me, and I think I will read more of her. [book:The Death o..."I try to be positive, thank you. I might just have to check out the work of Murdoch and Bowen. I also have never read Pearl S. Buck.
Sandy wrote: "I got derailed in September by health issues - appointments and unexpected tests and more appointments - so I lost sight of my reading goals. I like this idea and may try it again next summer. Than..."My pleasure, Sandy! I mentioned in one of the daily messages that users are free to manage their discussion boards anyway they wish for as long as the group is in existence, so you may if you like continue recording your 500 GBBW readings. When the next Summer of Women rolls around, you'll be prepared to dive right in.
