River being a son of Poseidon was doing his daily thing of swimming. He's been known to swim a lot and he likes to keep that true about himself. His hair was sticking to his forehead and his black trucks seemed to be tight on his hips. A few of the girls that seemed to like watching him do his usual routine weren't aground since he was being later then normal but all because he wasn't interested that much in them just watching his half naked self. That's what he didn't understand about them, they had a fetish or something with him or it could be because he was in great shape but didn't flaunt it around. Near the pool was his white tank top and towel for when he finished up.
When River noticed Reagan he saw over and pulled himself up to the deck with his arms. He was usually done when he felt like it was enough or be was tired if bring watched. "Hey Rea," he said using the old nickname he gave her. His hair just annoying him he ran a hand through it so it wasn't sticking to his forehead. It was easy to think him here because of it being water. "Would ypy like to join me?" A few of his siblings asked him what their relationship was in the past year but he said they were just friends or best buds. He knew almost everythibg about her and she probably knew everything about him since he was an open person. They never believed that but he didn't care much since it was his opinion that counted.
River looked at her with a sigh. "This one time I won't race you and you can just take these off," he pointed to her clothes. Anyway nhe could of pulled the water out of her clothes and anyway. Pulled himself out of the water and sat down beside her. "My Rea isn't scared of the water is she?" he teased her just to get her in the water some more. This was their relationship and he saw her as the one person he can just be himself around but the again they grew up together. History is a lot to make people come together. "Come onx he wagged his eyebrows.
River laughed at the rhetorical question she asked. "Have you had enough chlorine in your system yet?" He was surprised and when he surfaced he looked at her. "Then get in her scaredie cat," he smirked. They both knew the other well enough for them to know they disliked being challenged. Non of this was to beat the other because what would that do. When they first arrived he was so obsessed with finding his powers and he was claimed within a few days. He learned more after the claiming and how to control it. "Don't underestimate me my dear friend," his voice low and mocking her as he swam to the other side of the pool.
River laughed at her when he resurfaced. He really couldn't help that they had grown close. His day so far consisted of sleeping in then coming here to swim after talking to his younger sibling. "Woke up at ten and talked to Joe before coming here. This is my thinking place after all." He stayed here most of the time to just think things through. "Yea the beginning was tough but you have to think we were two young teenagers with no idea. We got better and that's the good thing," he remembered the first time at the camp and how he was just picked up by Reagan's mom.
Rover nodded at her with a big grin. "Yea, he's been here for a few weeks and he's a good kid considering all the stuff that's happen." He had a soft spot for Joe since the kid was new to all of this. He saw a bit of himself in the guy because he was young when he came to camp. "I might go blue this time since I want to beat you," he said before attacking her in the water. He couldn't help but want to try and beat her but he teased her like always. This was their form of friendship so it was hard not to think them as a couple.
River smirked before ducking under water. He liked the ability of being able to be down there for awhile. He swiftly grabbed her foot and pulled her down with him. Being under water could be said as romantic but he wasn't thinking that. His hair was floating like always but he was still almost half naked. River wasn't a knowingly romantic guy but he had moves that were amazing. He was corny at times but that was part of him being himself. When he resurfaced his eyes showed laughter but he had on a serious face. He was waiting for Reagan to just go off on him for pulling her under.
River laughed at her then swam over. "You know I just had too," he said apologetically. A pout formed on his face to even show her he cared. Being the son of Poseidon had perks like breathing underwater. Reagan had to know his teasing nature would make him pull her under since they were talking competitively. "You know your my best friend," he said all cutely with his still pouty face. How could she say no to that face, it was adorable.
River laughed at her and swam over. "That's why were friends," he teased her. When his head went under water he quickly resurfaced and was like a torpedo going towards Reagan. He wrapped his arms around her and pulled her back. "You know I can't just let you get away with that. I'm the son of freaking Poseidon," he smirked. Now anyone could think they were a couple. It was all in the way they acted and besides secretly River did get jealous when she flirted with other guys.
River laughed at her, "you like my only best friend." When she untangled herself away he looked at her oddly since she always tried but he eventually let her go after she promises him a soda. The asking he got from his siblings was because they knew each other better then they knew their half siblings. They would tease him about her but he ignored it and done what he usually would. "Its more then just evaporating water because that leads to rain," he smirked as he swam over and pull himself from the pool. He ran a hand through his wet hair as he pulled the water off his clothes. This awkwardness was happening because their bodies was responding to one another but their mind weren't grasping the idea. "Cone on,X he held out his hand for her to use to pull herself out.
Matthew was sitting by the pool, practicing his light manipulation, as it was not his strong suit. It was hot out, however, and the enticing coolness of the pool seemed to beckon for him and he finally gave in. He stripped off his camp shirt and shorts and cannonballed in. He relished the cool water and the sun on his face as he started swimming relaxed laps around the pool.
Nicoletta walked calmly through the copse of trees surrounding the pool to the deck. When she walked it wasn't simply just putting one foot in front of the other in hopes of getting somewhere, but graceful, sinuous movements that spoke subtly of confidence. It wasn't only that she was the child of the love goddess that made her so intimidating, but the fact that she held herself with grace. Looks weren't all that when it came to beauty, and Nicoletta knew it.
She was, like always, not paying any attention as to what was around her and therefore overlooked that there was someone else at the pool. Shifting the bag off her shoulder, she retrieved her towel and folded it on the wooden panels beneath her. Nicoletta found that since the pool was almost always vacant it was a perfect place to escape everything (and everyone) and do something that she actually wanted to do. Sitting lightly on top of her towels, she removed her simple, yet fashionable, blue dress in favor of the bikini she wore beneath. Nicoletta looked around cautiously once more, still not realizing that there was someone actually in the pool, and took out the novel she had brought along with her, immediately becoming engrossed in the words.
Matt slowed after a few more laps, choosing instead to float on his back. As he made his transition, he noticed someone had sat down and started reading. He didn't think that she had seen him yet, so he took a while looking at her, trying to place her name. He knew he'd seen around camp with her Aphrodite brothers and sisters, but her name still eluded him. She looked quite engrossed in the book and he had to admit he was mildly surprised. He didn't think he had ever heard of an Aphrodite kid who liked to read. Then again, he didn't frequently talk to anyone in the Aphrodite cabin. Wanting to make his presence known without startling her, he subtly kicked his feet as he flipped on his back, making a small, audible splash.

Wanting to make his presence known without startling her, he subtly kicked his feet as he flipped on his back, making a small, audible splash.
Nicoletta turned the pages of her book rapidly as she read on, becoming more and more interested in the book. It wasn't one she had chosen herself but one Chrion had given her as he was really the only one who knew her love of books and math and the like. Of course she wasn't going to tell anyone else that she liked to do things that didn't require makeup; they wouldn't believe her anyway. Nicoletta could've been the smartest one in the whole camp and no one would ever know, because to uphold such a reputation as hers, you couldn't appear to be overly intelligent. Sure you could be smart, guys liked that, but never the genius that she really was.
Nicoletta looked up, startled into dropping her book, as she heard a faint splash somewhere in front of her. She instantly realized that she had not been alone and cursed under her breath for it. At least she didn't know the person. Still she quickly tucked the book behind her where her bag was and plastered on a pleasant smile as she realized it was a boy. And not a bad looking one at that. Nicoletta felt a bit deflated at not being able to read in what little quiet time she had, but felt it would be quite interesting to see how far she could get with boy. Flipping her hair back over her shoulder, she examined him intently, but found that his name evaded her. "Hello." Nicoletta said, packing a hell of a lot of charm into the one word.
Matt watched curiously (although he was doing a very good job pretending he wasn't) as the girl put the book away quickly. He wasn't surprised. The Aphrodite cabin didn't get their reputation by reading books and making smart choices. When she flipped her hair and said "Hello," with all the charm in the world, he had to resist the temptation to roll his eyes. So she was just like the others, who thought that looks were everything and anything. "Hey," he said simply, keeping his disappointment off his face. He wondered why reading a book in the almost deserted forest would've led him to think that she would be any less vain than her siblings.
Nicoletta narrowed her eyes at the boy and tilted her head to the side; was he immune to her? The idea was a bit off-putting since no other guy in the whole of camp had ever been resistant to her charm. They were usually begging for her, pleading for even the merest sliver of attention. Let alone her affection. She shifted on her towel, spreading out her legs in front of her and leaning back on her palms. Nicoletta studied the boy for a moment longer, not caring that it might be considered rude to stare. How could she get him to melt for her the way guys usually did?
"Who are you, then? I don't believe I've seen you around camp." She said, though she likely had seen him and had just been to preoccupied to notice. Nicoletta quickly rearranged the smile on her face into something of a seductive smirk. It was the kind of smile that could typically get almost any guy to fall into the palm of her hand. But the boy in front of her didn't seem to be almost any guy. She pulled idly at the frayed end of her bright red towel as she awaited an answer and watched him slyly out of the corner of her eye, sure that he didn't notice her doing it.
"Matthew, son of Apollo," he replied smoothly, calmly treading water. She gave him a seductive smile and he almost shook his head. Seduction didn't get a person very far in life even if they were as attractive as the girl. He wondered what would happen if the Aphrodite cabin ever found out that sometimes smarts could make you sexier. He sighed in defeat, each Aphrodite kid he met seemed for vain than the next. He doubted he would ever find an Aphrodite kid who was deeper than their looks. Although if he was being honest, he was hoping he could get her to talk about the book she was reading. "And you are?" He asked with his eyebrow quirked, trying-and failing- to lay on as much charm as she did.
"Hmm, I'll have to remember that." She said when he gave his name. "Nicoletta O'daire of the Aphrodite cabin. But I'm sure you've figured that much out on your own." She replied to his question with a slightly sensuous smile. It was quite obvious to her that Matthew had already figured out who her mother was, as it didn't seem to be having any sort of affect on him. It pissed her off more than Nicoletta cared to admit that her beauty seemed to have little to no impact on the boy. What did he want from her?
"Okay Matthew, son of Apollo, you obviously think I'm some sort of vain Aphrodite. And guess what...your right." Nicoletta said blatantly. She had no need for fluff when it was apparent what the boy thought of her. Being able to read people wasn't exactly a gift, especially when they thought you were a complete bitch. Not that he thought so, but it seemed half the girls at camp did. When it came to her, there was never really a middle. The way she saw it was that people either wanted to kiss her or kill her. Yet, even when people thought they had her all figured out as the idealistic and narcissistic child of Aphrodite, they knew absolutely nothing about her. Even when it sucked, that was how Nicoletta wanted it to be. The best way to make sure no one got close was to make sure no one wanted to.
Matthew flashed a smile."Of course I figured it out, my dad is the God of prophesies, among other things," he joked. He wasn't sure why, as he had confirmed her a vain Aphrodite girl, but he felt like she was just putting up a front, if the reading alone in the forest was any indication. He was wondering if maybe, he could bring that other girl out and have a conversation that wasn't all flirty smiles and tasteless jokes. He hadn't really had a conversation like that since his sister--
He cut off the thought before he could finish and focused his attention again on Nicoletta.
"Well, Nicoletta O'daire, I bet everyone in camp thinks that of you because you think that of yourself," He said, acting all-knowing. "If the girl I saw earlier reading a book was any indication, I would say you aren't just a vain Aphrodite girl. And you know it," he said with a slight smirk on his face. He had noticed how fast her cover up of the book had been and how she became a flirty tease with ease. He wondered what her reaction would be as she realized her perfect cover was blown.
Nicoletta tapped a finger on her perfectly glossed lips and raised her eyebrows. "Hmm hmm hmm. Your an astute little demigod, aren't you?" She said with a calculatively perfect smile. It was not the kind of smile she typically gave to guys, especially ones she was attempting to charm, as it was a subtly dangerous one. "If I told you that book was only a Guide to Fashion, what would you say?" She asked, reaching behind her and pulling out a completely different book from her bag, while shoving the one she had been reading into it. If Nicoletta was anything, she was cunning.
She held up the book in front of her with a smirk. "See, I'm just as shallow as you thought." She said convincingly. Even while it annoyed her that she had to lie, she refused to have her whole appearance come crumbling down because one boy had caught her reading. Nicoletta set the book beside her and crossed her legs, leaning back smugly. While Matthew seemed much smarter than most of the guys she typically associated with, her skills were truly great when it came to imploring others. It was practically what her mother did after all.
"But alas, maybe you are just as shallow as you think you should be," Matt said, holding up his hands in mock surrender for a moment before having to put them down to tread water. He wondered if maybe he had read her wrong earlier and even though he tried to hide it, he must admit he felt a tad bit disappointed. "If I may ask, what's your favorite design?" He asked, trying to keep up the conversation. He also had this gut feeling that despite everything she had done so far and the fact she put on a convincing show, he couldn't shake the feeling that she wasn't as vain as everyone thought she was.
