So what book about the Tudors or Tudor England would y'all like to read in August? (Hopefully we should be done with Mary Queen of Scots by then!)

Gloriana's Torch is my nomination

I suggest The Man on a Donkey by H. F. M. Prescott.

I see that Gloriana's Torch is listed as third in a series - does that matter to being able to read and enjoy the book?

I bought Gloriana's Torch without being aware that it was third in a series. I found it very enjoyable. The author filled you in briefly as to what had occurred in the previous novels in the course of the plot, but I felt it can stand alone as a great story.

OK, cool.

I'll nominate Queen's Gambit by Elizabeth Freemantle, and John Guy's The Children of Henry VIII.
