Val Please nominate books for the September group read.
These can be the winners or short or long listed books from any year.
The vote will open in about a week.

message 2: by Jayme (new)

Jayme I would like to nominate The Lacuna by Barbara Kingsolver.

message 3: by Lagullande (new)

Lagullande | 76 comments Although I am very interested in reading The Lacuna, in the interests of having a poll/choice I would like to nominate Home by Marilynne Robinson.

It is the second book in the Gilead trilogy, but it can stand-alone from the first one, so it doesn't matter if you have not read that (Gilead).

Val Was a third book nominated, or am I imagining it?

message 5: by Tasha (new)

Tasha No, you're not imagining things. haha. It was there but I deleted it. I nomintated The Secret Life of Bees but then thought that probably everyone but me has read that one. I saw on GRs that it has almost 800,000 ratings so it's probably been read by many here as well.

I've got another 2 books I'm thinking of nominating so I'll just throw one of those out here now. I'll nominate Elizabeth Is Missing.

Sorry for the confusion! :)

Val Thanks Tasha.
I am another one of the few who didn't get around to reading The Secret Life of Bees at the time 'everyone' was. There was probably a very long reserve list at the library and then later I forgot about it. Perhaps we could do a 'buddy read'.
I have read Elizabeth Is Missing and liked it a lot.

Tasha Sure, I would read it with you. I'm usually up for buddy reads! :) I'm glad to hear the other book is good.

I haven't read [book:The Secret Life of Bees|37435..."

Nor I.

message 10: by Tasha (new)

Tasha Maybe I should change my nom back to that one then? I would be happy to change it back but don't want to keep going back and forth.

message 11: by Drew (new)

Drew (drewlynn) | 18 comments I haven't read The Secret Life of Bees either.

message 12: by Val (new)

Val Tasha, it seems that there are a few of us who have not read The Secret Life of Bees, so you could nominate it next month if you don't want to change back to it.

message 13: by Tasha (new)

Tasha I think I'll change my nom back to The Secret Life of Bees then since a bunch of people have chimed in about it. Best to move while it's still hot. ;)

message 14: by Maggie (new)

Maggie Anton | 7 comments I'll nominate The Secret Life of Bees then

message 15: by Val (new)

Val The poll will open this evening, UK time, so in about six or seven hours time.
If anyone has any further nominations please add them before then, or wait and nominate them next month.
