The Blackhouse -- Book 1 of the Lewis Trilogy. I chose this based on the recommendation of a childhood friend. Nothing like a rainy Saturday to delve into a murder mystery set in the bleak and dangerous Hebrides -- the Isle of Lewis to be exact. Edinburgh police detective Fin MacLeod is sent to his childhood home to investigate a murder that bears a strong resemblance to a murder in Edinburgh. Here he must find a dangerous murderer but also must face the reasons he left decades ago. Loved it. Can't wait for Book Two!

ooooh! This book's ambiance sounds like it is right up my idyllic archipelago's alley. Adding it to my list.
