Elliott scoped around the place, concluding that everyone was out at a lunch break. "Sweet," he murmured, motioning for Clementine to follow him as he navigated the kitchen filled with dirty pots and pans. He passed sinks and the oven and came to a halt in front of the large metal fridge installed in the wall. "Here we are," he mumbled as he jiggled the door knob.
Clementine peeked around. "It's so messy in here." she mumbled, attempting to pick up a pot and failing. Then she stared at the fridge. "What is that?" she asked. She had died before the first refrigerator was invented.
Elliott paused from his break-in attempt and looked at her. He'd figured even his subconscious would know what a fridge is. Still, for the sake of going along with it, he explained, "It's this huge storage to put food in. It keeps it cold so it doesn't go bad." He nodded as an end to the statement and turned back to the fridge, seemingly sizing it up. He placed his hand on the knob again and took a deep breath, holding it as he pried the door open. By the time it was cracked enough for a person to slip through, he was nearly purple in the face.
"That's really strange." Clementine said, staring at the fridge. She walked through Elliot and the door, then looked around the inside of the fridge. "So how does it work?" she asked, turning round and round slowly so she could see the inside of the fridge.
"That's not really a question I can answer," Elliott said. Though he had read thousands of books on hundreds of topics, refrigerators weren't one of them. "Here we are..." he murmured to himself as he slipped into the cold vault, scanning the shelves for things to take. He never understood why the chefs refrigerated crackers, but they were easy enough to find so he took a stack and stashed it in his pocket. He looked around some more, his eyes settling on a bit of cheese left over from one of the dishes served last night. He swiped that too and stashed it with the crackers. "I'm good, anything else you want?" he asked Clementine.
