I am half way through and finding it kind of slow and and with not much to really talk about lol.. Its getting a little better now i guess..

I found the whole book extremely slow. This is probably my first and last Sarah Dessen book

This is my 5th? Sarah Dessen and her same element and plot is getting tiring.

I agree this is kinda bland but I hope you will not give up on Sarah Dessen. I like Dreamland, Someone Like You and Along for the Ride so you can check that out :)

Ive read along for the ride, it was actually my first book by her and it was pretty good! Gave it 4 stars...

i probably wont give up on her simply because shes my best friends favorite author so im hoping something good will come of reading her books if she thinks so highly of her.

Im just disappointed that this one was such a flop. Specially since it didnt leave us much to discuss lol. I hope "This is what Happy looks like" is better for discussions.

caroline (view spoiler)[ I really did not like her! Especially how once she didn't have Colie's weight to tease her about, she spreads rumours about her being a slut. I hated how she kept trying to interfere and ruin any aspect of Colie's life! (hide spoiler)]

So far it's ultra boring. Nothing much is happening yet, and I'm halfway through!

Yeah I agree. Boring.

What did I gain out of this book? Absolutely nothing at all. Super boring. Really overestimated this book. I super loved Just Listen by Sarah Dessen, so I assumed I'd like anything else she wrote, but this really didn't measure up. I'm very disappointed.

This book had no plot, the characters were all totally average apart from Isabelle. Colie only lost the weight because her mother forced her to. It was so clear that (view spoiler)[Isabelle was the fat kid in the photo, anyone would think the same if they saw kid photos of Colie too. (hide spoiler)] Also obvious that (view spoiler)[Colie only liked Norman because of what Isabelle said about him, how he was so good and she didn't deserve him. (hide spoiler)] I really wonder what happened to (view spoiler)[Jack, was that his name? The guy from the fireworks... Did he ever call her? (hide spoiler)] This book was just bleh. Pleased it isn't a series.

So this is our thread

hiii!

So I'm on chapter three. I had the vibe from Isabel and Maggie that they were in highschool and around Colie's age, because maggie was saying stuff like it was her last summer working there. But then it said she had a fiance, I mean she might be getting married young but I think she is older. Also I think the reason why Colie dyed her hair and got a piercing on her lip is to rebel from her mom because they don't 'connect' like they used to. So she might be using it as a defence mechanism or for attention from her mom. Any thoughts?
