Mid-Continent Public Library discussion

Only one week late! (Someone smack Mariah!) So what are you reading this July? Has anyone gone on vacation and taken an excellent book with them?

I am rereading The Firm by John Grisham. Was listening to Cowboys and Aliens, but really couldn't get into it. Next will be Murder as A Fine Art by David Morrell (thanks Lisa for recommending him).

Criminal by Karin Slaughter, listening to Compulsion by Allison Brennan.

Just finished At The Waters Edge by Sara Gruen (who wrote Water for Elephants), it was awesome! I'm also re-listening to the Game of Thrones books. And I just read The Giver for the first time and now I'm reading Gathering Blue the 2nd in that series.

Just finished Why Mermaids Sing by C.S. Harris. This was the 3rd in Sebastion St. Cyr historical mystery series.

I just finished The Ghostman by Roger Hobbs. This author has a bright future in crime\suspense akin to James Patterson. The Ghostman is an east coast casino heist gone wrong with a federal payload involved. An invisible player with a due to pay comes in to fix the mess. Hobbs has a 2nd book out now. This is the James Patterson of the future.

Finished listening to Blood Oath by Christopher Farnsworth. Nathaniel Cade is a vampire who works for the President of the U.S. as a "secret weapon" that takes care of the things that go bump in the dark. I liked this story. Totally different type of Urban Fantasy than others that I have read.

Our book clubs are currently reading The First Phone Call From Heaven by Mitch Albom, The Book Thief by Markus Zusuk, The Orphan Train by Christina Baker Kline, and To Whisper her Name by Tamera Alexander.
