Tayla's List
First week in January I read Artemis Fowl The Time Paradox. I read the first five Artemis Fowl books last fall, and I really like this character. This is one book that I actually bought retail (although I had a 40% off coupon) I usually try to buy used.
2nd bookThe Deviant Strain by Justin Richards.
This is a Doctor Who novel. My interest in the TV show was recently rekindled, so I've started reading the novels again.
In January I also read part of Time Patrol by Poul Anderson. I haven't finished it, so I'm not counting it yet, but I liked it. It's a book of connected short stories about the Time Patrol and a Time Agent. The last story in the book was a novella that I didn't feel like getting into at the time, but I hopefully will get back to it.
February, Third Book
Only Human by Gareth Roberts.
This is another Doctor Who book. These books are like snacks. I can get through one in a day.
FebruaryFourth Book
Scales of Justice by Daniel Hood.
This is the fourth book of a fantasy series that combines fantasy with a who-dun-it mystery. It's a medieval setting. The main character investigates crimes, and he has a miniature dragon that helps him.
March 2A Spell For Chameleon by Piers Anthony
I don't know if I want to actually count this one on the list as I have read it before. I guess I'll wait til the end of the year and see how close I am to 50
March 11Book 5
Necromancer by Gordon R. Dickson.
The first in an eleven book series (The Childe Cycle) that was written over a 50 year period. Looking forward to plowing my way through all of them.
March 19Book 7
Seventh Son by Orson Scott Card
The start of another long series, this one a six book series called Tales of Alvin Maker. I'm going to like this series a lot, too.
I've decided that I am going to count books I've read before. So I've just finished my Ninth book.
The Diamond Throne, David Eddings
19 -
Tigana by Guy Gavriel Kay.Took me almost two weeks to get through this one, which is unusual for me. It was long and complicated with lots of characters. I liked it a lot.
Attempted to read
To Say Nothing of the Dog by Connie Willis, but I didn't get to far. I really didn't care about the characters.
Attempted to read
The Accidental Time Machine by Joe Haldeman, but again, I didn't care about the characters.

Tayla, I would give To Say Nothing of the Dog another try sometime. I read it to my boys and it took us an entire year, but it is still a favorite. It had a lot of humor, but I agree it has a slow start.
It's back on the shelf, waiting. I always give books a second and a third chance before I scrap them. It took me three tries to get through the first Harry Potter
Attempted to read
People of the Wolf by W. Michael Gear and Kathleen O'Neal Gear, but I couldn't get into it. Back on the shelf it goes.

I read almost exclusively fantasy and scifi, and occasionally a mystery or a crime drama.
I didn't keep track last year, but I'd bet that I got pretty close to 50.
