Kylee woke up in her bed. She sat up slowly and stretched. She was alone in the condo, she couldn't sense Felix anywhere. She put on some music and got out of bed, then started her usual morning routine.
Sydney opened her eyes. She was still really tired for some reason. Mentally and physically. Too tired to get out of bed just yet.
Kylee had just showered and gotten dressed into her favourite heels, a pair of ripped-up leggings and a tee shirt when Felix came in through the door, carrying a coffee from Starbucks and a box of chocolates.
"Sydney! Get up!" Her mother had just come into her room- without knocking- and told her that her dad had left and it was almost time for school.
"I'm not feeling so well." She croaked, then coughed.
"Okay. Just this once, young lady, I'll let you stay home. You've gone through a lot, and you must be tired. Get some rest, okay sweetie?"
"Okay, mom." She said.

Felix handed her the coffee. "Thanks!" She said. "No problem," He replied, "Are you still going to school today?"
"I was planning on it...Why?" She asked.
"I wanted to talk to you... Before I lost my nerve." He said quietly.
Kylee was stunned. Felix, scared of something? "I guess I can skip today." She said, barely aware she was saying it.
"Great." He said, but he didn't look happy.
Her mom said she was going out for the day. Chores and errands to run, and that she would probably be back around 5. As soon as she left, Sydney hopped up, showered, combed her hair, and got dressed.
"So, what did you want to talk about?" Kylee asked, steering Felix towards the couch.I don't know how much you heard of Sydney's conversation with me yesterday, Felix began, But I figured I'd owe you an explanation.
She went downstairs, grabbed a granola bar, and headed out the door. She had a few hours to do what she needed to do.
Back when I was human, Felix said. I had a fairly large family. I had three sisters, Allmay, Bri, and Seraphine, and three brothers; Peter, James and Charles.
She ran down the sidewalk, heading to the cemetery. It was a few blocks away, and maybe a twenty minute run.
This was before I knew about vampires, of course, and anything else supernatural. I mean, there were myths, but I personally never believed them.
Go on, Kylee said.I was friends with this girl- just friends. Felix continued. Her name was Clare Collins, and the town suspected her and her family of witchcraft. They were outcasts. After my brother charles got sick- I was around seventeen then, my parents forbade me from seeing Clare again. She was a bad influence, they said. I told her later that night. She was very upset. The next morning, I woke to my sister Seraphine's sobbing. Charles was dead. I knew it was Clare's fault. I confronted her, and her sister, Crystal, confessed. A year later, I was turned into a vampire. I learnt about the supernatural world and realized that Clare's family were all witches. I killed them all- except for Clare. He blurted, the words coming out in a rush.
She was running her absolute fastest, and she made it to the cemetery five minutes earlier than she expected. She wandered in, and walked around, looking for where her family members were buried. Witches believed that when they died, they moved on to the Spirit Realm. They were always watching over there families. Apparently, the closer you were to where a family member was buried, the easier it was to contact them in the Spirit Realm. Them as in, all family members that died.
She found where her great aunt Maria was buried and sat down in front of the tombstone.
Spirits of the Realm, if you can here me, send a sign. I must speak to the witch Clare Collins Cuilein.

A few seconds later, the wind howled, making her shiver. "Why must you speak with Clare Cuilein?" Came the reply, carried in the wind.
I must speak with her to gain understanding, and closure. The Cuilein family has just lost another and I must speak with Clare Cuilein. I have seen into the past.
"Seen into the past? How peculiar young one. I give you permission to access the Spirit Realm, for only a short time, to speak with your ancestor."
Thank you.

She saw herself. Really it was Clare, the resemblance was striking. "Hello, I'm Sydney Collins. A distant relative." She said.
"Why do we look the same? Although I wish I had your hair. Mine was always so unruly..." She trailed off.
Sydney laughed. "I like your accent. British right? It's a nice change..." She said.
"Why thank, you!"
"If you don't mind me asking, why are you so young? I was expecting the ghost of an old woman."
"I passed during childbirth... I never did meet my girl..."
"I'm sorry..." Sydney said. "I really wanted to talk to you about a friend of mine. His name's Felix. Felix Clark." She said.
"He's here? Oh I'd like to see him again, he was my best friend... But he would definitely not care to see me." She said sadly.
"What exactly happened after that- the night were he confronted you? After his brother's funeral?"
"Well, life went on as usual. Well as usual as it could get, until he was turned... He was angry, really angry. He murdered my whole family... He left me unharmed though. Of course, I moved on with my life. I never saw him again. I couldn't believe what my sister had done. She was always a bit moody, but murder? Only a dark witch would commit murder. I never talked to her again after that." She explained.
"When Felix came here, he was always spiteful towards me. I had no idea why, until last night..." Sydney said. "He must hate me!"
"Oh yes. He was- is- one to hold a grudge. Once, we were down by the stream when we were about twelve, and I pushed him into the water. He hit his head, and told me off. He didn't speak to me for two weeks after that." She said wistfully.
"Your time is up, young one."
Sydney opened her eyes. Clare was gone.

Felix gasped, throwing a hand up to his head. It felt like it was splitting in half. "Kylee, can you get me a bloodbag?" He choked out the words. 1, 2, 3 seconds passed before she got back. In that short time, he felt that he could have easily just lay down and died. But the blood helped, as it always did, for vampires. And a few minutes and 3 bloodbags later, the headache was gone.
((haha, everyone's getting headaches. It should be called "Headache High" has a nice ring to it too))
"No! I need more time!" Sydney realized she had said it out loud. Please, just a few more minutes.
"I am sorry, young sorceress. But it cannot be. Your time is up."
She groaned and stood, up, ready to walk home.

Kylee drank a bloodbag too. "What happened?" She asked. "I don't know. I got a really bad headache all of the sudden."
She started walking home. Clare and her really were similar. Same eyes, same nose, same colouring. Their faces were the same, and their hair was different. Very strange.
She put her jacket hood up. She continued walking to her house. A second later, Clare appeared in front of her. Sydney yelped, and the man walking next to her glanced over at her.
"I forgot to ask you something, so when the barrier to the Spirit Realm was closing, I snuck through. Don't worry, there are openings all over so I can get back in any time."
"What do you want to ask me?" She said.
"Will you tell Felix that I'm sorry, for everything that happened? Tell him that I miss him and tell him this: Amici optimi non refert quid. We carved it into the Oak by his house, with our names underneath. I taught him Latin."
She disappeared, leaving Sydney shocked.

Sydney didn't know what to do. Go talk to Felix, or go home and hide under the covers of her bed for the rest of the day. She thought while she was walking. The walk to Kylee's house was maybe five minutes. It was actually on the way home, she had passed it on the way to the cemetery. Oh well. Might as well get it over with.
