Tracie | 4 comments Would someone tell me about Signet Regency's and if they are clean? I would so appreciate it!

Tressa (Wishful Endings) | 33 comments I was looking at those today too and wondering if they were clean.

message 3: by Sophie (new)

Sophie | 209 comments I have read a few signet regency romances and they have so far all been clean :)

I've found the majority of Signet Regencies to be clean (and I've read a LOT of them) but there are always exceptions.

message 5: by Tracie (new)

Tracie | 4 comments That is good to know, I found several at a used book store & more for Kindle. I can't get enough Regency!

message 6: by Sophie (new)

Sophie | 209 comments Neither can I! Regency romances are my fav genre!

I recommend Diane Farr's Regencies. She originally wrote for Signet. The ones of hers I've read are very amusing, totally clean, and they've all been released as eBooks now. :O)

Christine Jensen (chrisjensen) | 13 comments I am a regency fan too, thank for the info!!

message 9: by Nicole D. (new)

Nicole D. (thereadingrebel) | 17 comments I am a huge Regency fan also.I love Georgette Heyer.I am working throw all her books(first the regencies and georgians, then the mysteries and historical fiction).

message 10: by Sophie (new)

Sophie | 209 comments I second Jamiey and Nicole!
I am working through Diane Farr's work and am really enjoyable - I have read Duel of Hearts which was great and also The Fortune Hunter (this one was more passionate but still clean :) ) and I have her others waiting! I am also reading Heyer and so far have enjoyed Arabella, The Nonesuch and Cotillion :)

message 11: by QNPoohBear (new)

QNPoohBear | 63 comments Some of them are clean. The earliest ones to about late 90s are. There are a few exceptions to that rule.

They tend to be a bit more clean than the Zebra line but not always. I try not to read anything written more recently than 2000 because apparently 21st century readers want more sizzle in their books.

I've reviewed a ton of them so you can check my bookshelf or my blog http://bluestockingmusings.blogspot.com

message 12: by Camy (new)

Camy (camytang) I really loved the Signet Regencies. I'm really glad that a lot of them are being put out in ebook so that I can read the ones I never got and get an ebook copy of the ones I really liked.

message 13: by Ljb (new)

Ljb | 32 comments thanks for the recommendations. I just read devils Delilah. it was clean, romantic and funny - my favorite combo.

Tadiana ✩Night Owl☽ I loved Devil's Delilah--the scenes where Jack and Delilah finally get together are hilarious but really romantic too. I liked all of Loretta Chase's six early traditional Regencies. Too bad she didn't write more before she turned to bodice-rippers. The Sandalwood Princess, Knave's Wager and The English Witch were my other favorites.

message 15: by Anne (new)

Anne | 28 comments I didnt know Loretta Chase had written clean romances! I will have to check them out, Devil's Delilah sounds good!

message 16: by Kathy (new)

Kathy * Bookworm Nation | 62 comments I wish Ms. Chase would write more clean ones, she's a fun storytellers. I really enjoyed her six clean ones.

I don't usually pay attention to the publisher, but I have a Regency shelf you're welcome to check out. I've also gotten into regencies lately and have found some really good ones!

Off the top of my head, I like Carla Kelly, Debbie Raleigh, Cindy Holbrooke, Joan Overfield. Not all of their are clean, the ones I've read have been (or I marked them if they weren't). I also love Donna Hatch, Sarah Eden, Teresa McCarthy and Julianne Donaldson, who all write clean regencies! There is also Jaimey Grant, I've only read a couple of hers, they are more serious, and I typically like more lighthearted.

Tadiana ✩Night Owl☽ Over in the Happily Ever After book group we've started a Kindle loanable book trading thread. A lot (but not all) of Kindle books are loanable for two weeks. You can only loan a book once, so we try to keep things fair (you ask for a book and then you have the right to borrow one from the same person). Some people (like Kathy and I) have created a specific shelf for our loanable Kindle books. You're welcome to join us there or we can start a similar thread in this group. As an incentive, I have all six clean Loretta Chase Regencies and I'm pretty sure they're all still loanable. :)

By the way, Kathy, I'd like to borrow Barbara Metzger's Rake's Ransom from you. :D

message 18: by Anne (new)

Anne | 28 comments Kathy, you have a wonderful shelf! Thank you for letting me know, I just went to check it and added a few books (to my already too-long list!). I love the way you write how clean it was at the end of your review! It's very helpful. :) Thank you for letting me know Tadiana! I don't currently have a Kindle but I am thinking about buying one, since kindle books are usually cheaper than paperbacks, and are even sometimes free. I know there are free kindle apps out there, but I don't like reading off a computer or a phone. But thank you, it sounds like a great idea to loan kindle books!

Tadiana ✩Night Owl☽ I just messaged you with it. Thanks!

Hi, can someone please list the titles of the rest of the clean books Ms. Chase wrote? Thank you SO much!

Tadiana ✩Night Owl☽ Besides the four mentioned above (see my Jan. 26 post), there's also Isabella and Viscount Vagabond. Devil's Delilah is kind of a sequel to Viscount Vagabond and The English Witch is kind of a sequel to Isabella, in that some of the same characters show up, but you don't really need to read them in order to enjoy them. For what it's worth, I liked the two sequels better than the first stories in each pair. Knave's Wager and The Sandalwood Princess are stand-alone books.

message 23: by Camy (new)

Camy (camytang) I loved Knaves' Wager. It's one of my favorite books of all time!

I especially love Barbara Metzger, esp her early Regencies. They were clean and funny!

Plus they feature dogs! I'm a sucker for a story with a cute dog!

Anne | 28 comments Thank you for the list Tadiana!

Are all Barbara Metzger's books clean, or just the early Regencies?

Tadiana ✩Night Owl☽ Anne wrote: "Are all Barbara Metzger's books clean, or just the early Regencies?"

I think it depends on what your definition of clean is. I've only read two (Rake's Ransom and Ace of Hearts) and they're on the somewhat steamy side. No sex, but there's some pretty explicit fondling in the make-out sessions. O_o

OK thanks for the warning! I'm not one for steamy make-out sessions, but as long as there is no explicit sex, I might read it if I find that I really like the author.

Her earlier Regencies are definitely cleaner. A lot of them are being released as ebooks if you can't find them on Paperbackswap or used book stores.

Tadiana ✩Night Owl☽ How can I tell what's an earlier Barbara Metzger book? All of the ones listed as ebooks on Amazon have recent dates (probably the date the ebook was first published). Recommendations please!

Kitty | 16 comments Tadiana wrote "How can I tell what's an earlier Barbara Metzger book? All of the ones listed as ebooks on Amazon have recent dates (probably the date the ebook was first published). Recommendations please."

Yeah, please do list a few of her early regencies because she has written a lot of books and I don't know how to distinguish the cleaner ones

message 34: by Kathy (new)

Kathy * Bookworm Nation | 62 comments It doesn't have all her books listed, but if you go to www.likesbooks.com and search her name it has a pretty good listing. Most are listed with a sensuality level as "Kisses" or "Subtle" but I think there might might be some "Warm" ones...

message 35: by Kitty (new)

Kitty | 16 comments Okay, thanks a lot!

message 36: by QNPoohBear (new)

QNPoohBear | 63 comments Fiction DB also has a list of authors' books or books by publisher and you can sort by date. My favorite Barbara Metzger book is Primrose Path. That one made me LOL! Ace of Hearts is the warmest one I've read.
