Meredith took a seat by the fountain in the square of the marketplace. She kept her face hidden with her straw hat, not wanting to be noticed wandering out of teh castle walls unsupervised.

Will walked through the square hiding looking around him.

Sighing, Meredith rose from her seat and started walking back towards home. On her way, though, she bumped into somebody. "Oh, I'm sorry," she said.

"That's fine," Will said. He looked up at her. "Don't I know you from somewhere?" he mused.

Cocking her head, Meredith studied the boy more closely. Then realization came to her eyes and quickly she looked away, her cheeks starting to flush. "I-I don't know what you're talking about."

"Ok," Will said. "I must just be imagining things. I'm Will, by the way." He didn't realize she was a royal, or else he wouldn't have been talking to her like that.

She almost couldn't hide her shoulders sagging in relief. "And I'm Meredith," she replied before thinking.

"Nice to meet you," Will said, extending his hand.

Taking his hand in her own, she gave it a shake. "Pleasure to meet you as well," she said, smiling kindly.

Will smiled.

Letting her hand drop to her side, Meredith asked politely and in conversational manner, "Do you live here in the village?"

"I live in the castle," Will said.

"Oh?" Meredith laughed, a little nervous. "What- what do you do in the castle?"

"Just odd jobs, I'm a servant."

"That must be nice. You probably explore the whole castle often, going about on those jobs," Meredith commented. She adjusted the strap of her bag hanging over her shoulder, trying to hide her family's royal seal embroidered onto the strap.

"I don't get to go much farther than the kitchens or the stables on a regular basis," Will said.

"Oh." She looked down, embarrassed. Noticing the fading light, she glanced over at Will. "I'm sorry, but I have to go home. It was great talking to you."

"It was nice talking to you, too. Where do you live?"

"I-uh, well, I get around a lot," Meredith half lied. She knew it was an obvious lie, because she had a history of terrible lies. One time, she knocked down a vase that's been in her family in generations. Before she even spoke, her nurse sent her to her desk to write down "I will be careful" a thousand times.

"Cool," Will said. "I've always thought it would be cool to explore the world."

Meredith smiled slightly, thinking that this kid must be oblivious to all the signs she mostly likely is giving away. Which meant she would have to be careful around the castle if she were to ever see him again out in the village and keep up her ruse. "Oh, I don't explore the world often nowadays," she said sadly.

"Why not?" Will asked.

"I'm a 'respectable young woman who shouldn't go gallivanting around'," Meredith said, mocking a pompous, nasally voice. "Or so my governess says."

Will laughed.

She gave a small laugh and, with a smile, said, "I really should go now. I'll see you around, maybe." Meredith started to walk away.

"Ok, bye." Will said.

Meredith gave another wave and then she disappeared into the crowd of the market.

Will continued walking through the center square. He figured he should probably head back soon.

Ami walked around the market, a small sigh escaping her lips. There are just so many people here! She thought quietly. It was her turn to go to the market, though she always dreaded being in large crowds. She set herself down on the fountain, checking her list quietly.
